Challenge Premise:

  • Build 7 homes on one lot, for 7 Sims each with a unique colour and decor style(s).

  • Fund each home build exclusively using money earned with each Sim’s assigned skill.

  • You can only work on one Sim’s house at a time; the next Sim can only be moved in after the current Sim’s home is “complete”.

Extra Rules I’m Playing With:

  • My Tiny Town lot starts with 4 Lot Challenges: Off-the-Grid, Simple Living, Wild Foxes, and Reduce and Recycle. Lot Challenges can only be removed by completing a corresponding Sim’s skill-related Aspiration (e.g. Wellness skill = Self-Care Specialist aspiration, Cooking/Baking skills = Master Chef aspiration, etc.) :

    • Off-the-Grid: Wellness/Fitness, Cooking/Mixology, Handiness/Fabrication, Music/Instruments, Gardening/Flower Arranging, Fishing.

    • Simple Living: Wellness/Fitness, Cooking/Mixology, Gardening/Flower Arranging, Fishing.

    • Wild Foxes: Wellness/Fitness, Cooking/Mixology, Music/Instruments, Gardening/Flower Arranging, Fishing, Knitting/Cross-Stitch.

    • Reduce and Recycle: Wellness/Fitness, Handiness/Fabrication, Painting/Photography, Knitting/Cross-Stitch.

  • When a Sim’s skill-related Aspiration is completed, instead of removing a Lot Challenge, a helpful Lot Trait can be added:

    • Wellness/Fitness: add Bracing Breezes, or upgrade/replace an already-unlocked trait to Homey* or Home Studio**.

    • Cooking/Mixology: add Chef’s Kitchen, or upgrade/replace an already-unlocked trait to Homey*.

    • Handiness/Fabrication: upgrade/replace an already-unlocked trait to Homey* or Home Studio** or Fast Internet***.

    • Music/Instruments: add Great Acoustics, Convivial or Party Place, or upgrade/replace an already-unlocked trait to Homey* or Home Studio** or Fast Internet***.

    • Gardening/Flower Arranging, Fishing: add Great Soil, or upgrade/replace an already-unlocked trait to Homey*.

    • Painting/Photography: add Natural Light, or upgrade/replace an already-unlocked trait to Home Studio**.

    • Knitting/Cross-Stitch: add Natural Light, or upgrade/replace an already-unlocked trait to Homey* or Home Studio**.

    • The idea behind the “upgrade/replace” aspect is so that you have to get a basic, less useful skill-boosting Lot Trait before you can unlock a Lot Trait that boosts several skills at once.
      * Homey boosts the Cooking, Mixology, Handiness and Gardening skills.
** Home Studio boosts the Painting and Writing skills, and the quality of woodworking crafted objects.
*** Fast Internet boosts the Programming, Video Gaming and Writing skills.

  • Deligracy’s original Tiny Town lot and household of 7 Sims.

  • My version of the Tiny Town lot, with added lot challenges (Off-the-Grid, Simple Living, Wild Foxes, Reduce and Recycle). • My set of 7 colour-coded Sims, each with 25 likes/dislikes. Available as altogether in one 7-Sim household, or as individually in 1-Sim households:

  • James Turner’s tool to create your own Tiny Town Sims cards (scroll to the bottom of the page), like the ones I’m using below.

My Tiny Town

I created HannahCanada’s Tiny Town wheel on wheelofnames.com to randomly select the order in which to play my Tiny Town Sims.

I placed my Tiny Town on the 64x64 lot in Henford-on-Bagley. It began with a few tents, snack coolers, bushes, and a few starter objects for each Sim’s earning skill.

The lot has a small river around a central island, which will eventually be developed into a community space. Surrounding that, there are 7 equally-sized building areas, one for each Sim.

It looked especially rough when the first Sim moved in on a particularly dark and foggy morning in Henford!

(I modified and relocated the Watson family’s lot so they’re still in the neighbourhood!)

1 - Juniper Eden

  • Earning Skills: Gardening, Flower Arranging, (optional) Fishing
    Aspiration: Freelance Botanist

  • House style: Cottage
Décor Styles she likes: Farmhouse, Storybook, Garden, Vintage, French Country, Queen Anne, Patio

  • Traits: Loves Outdoors, Bookworm, Loner
Backstory (why they move to/want to live in Tiny Town): wants to live communally to help her make friends and find love before she reaches her elder years.

Juniper was the first Sim to settle in to the soon-to-be Tiny Town, and was greeted by Cecilia Kang and Rahmi Watson as the Welcome Wagon. She and Cecilia became fast friends despite Juniper’s Loner trait (and that she hates fruitcake). Progress was slow in the spring, building her Gardening and Flower Arranging skills using the starter seeds provided. Cecilia was Tiny Town’s first stay over guest; she had to sleep in one of the other tents since Cecilia didn’t have a home yet. Profits earned while reaching level 5 in the Gardening & Flower Arranging skills only covered Tiny Town’s first shower and water collector.

Summer was much busier and a lot of progress was made! Juniper’s cottage build began and she sold a bouquet on Plopsy for over $5,000 for the first time. Cecilia invited Juniper to the Spice Festival, where she collected a Cowberry to plant for her Aspiration. Juniper also attended the Finchwick Fair, where she sold produce and bought groceries she couldn’t grow in Tiny Town yet. She won her first ribbon with a Begonia and celebrated with a drink and meal at the local pub.

Juniper Eden has her hand in a mailbox, in front of a tiny cabin in the corner of Tiny Town.

Fall arrived and Juniper was still Tiny Town's only resident, but she was generating power with solar panels and a wind turbine. She reached Gardening skill level 10 and Flower Arranging level 9 before she could afford an overhaul of her house build. Her original outhouse will be a communal toilet in the new public farm/garden area she funded, half of which has roof coverage to protect plants year-round. Between the public garden and her home, she has a private covered area for her flower garden.

Late in the fall, Tiny Town’s cowplant matured and completed Juniper’s Freelance Botanist Aspiration. I decided to remove the Off-the-Grid Lot Challenge since power & water were consistently an issue.

It took until the last day of fall (playing with 7-day seasons) to fund the complete build & furnish of Juniper’s cottage

Sumire is in for a rough start, moving to Tiny Town in winter! But, it also feels fitting to start the knitting-focused Sim in winter. At least she will benefit from the public toilet and sheltered garden that Juniper funded.

Play order to be determined…
