The Sims 2

Mods

Unfortunately just getting The Sims 2 game installed won’t be enough to keep it running smoothly - we are talking about a game that came out 20 years ago now!

I’ve compiled a list of mods that work with The Sims 2 Ultimate Collection, and organized them based on how essential they are for your game. Obviously, mods to prevent corruption are the most important, followed by fixes for game-breaking bugs, and so on.

How To Install Mods for The Sims 2

To install mods, all you need to do is go to your Documents folder, find your Sims 2 folder (usually under EA Games unless you customized your installation), and create a folder called “Downloads”. Within that folder, you can create sub-folders to organize all of your mods and any Custom Content (CC) that you want in your game. All of your downloaded files just get put in there, after they are unzipped as needed.
(You may need to install a program such as 7-Zip to extract files, if you don’t already have one.)

Critical Fix Mods

It is very highly recommended to use these mods to help prevent your game or neighbourhood(s) from getting corrupted, prevent game-breaking bugs, and for core gameplay elements to operate properly.

  • No Corrupt Death (JM Pescado) - Suppresses the formation of the corrupted death memory.

No Unlink on Delete (JM Pescado) - Prevents the game from partially destroying sim files when tombstones get deleted.
(Although, you still shouldn’t delete tombstones!)

Smarter EP Check (Cyjon) - Creates a new, more robust and accurate check for what Expansion and Stuff Packs you have installed. This mod is required by many of Cyjon’s and others’ mods, including No Auto Urn Cleanup, below.

No Auto Urn Cleanup (Cyjon) - Prevents sims from cleaning up smashed urns autonomously. Cleaning up urns is similar to deleting tombstones - it can lead to corruption of your neighbourhood.

Select Your Cemetery (Arek_91) - Creates a pop-up when a Sim dies that will let you select where to put the tombstone from a list of Community Lots. Originally made for Apartment Lots to prevent them being sent to a random lot or getting accidentally deleted, but there is now also a version for All Lots. Use only one version.

Get Parents Fix (Tuna is a Fish) - Prevents garbage data or random objects from populating parent slots, which can lead to recurring errors or in some cases, corruption. Plus, when both parents are present, the game will no longer always favour one over the other.

  • *This was included above in Anti-Corruption, as well, but only install it once! I’m just including it here because it is required by several of these fixes, as well.*Smarter EP Check (Cyjon) - Creates a new, more robust and accurate check for what Expansion and Stuff Packs you have installed. This mod is required by many of Cyjon’s and others’ mods.

Aging Baby to Toddler Fix (Simler90) - Prevents an issue with the ‘Help with Birthday’ interaction which keeps Sim babies from being aged up into toddlers.

Anti-Redundancy (JM Pescado & Doctor Boris) - Eliminates spawning of unnecessary redundant NPCs. Should only spawn one per type, more only if needed because the first is unavailable. All spawned NPCs should be equally accessible instead of just the first 3.

Bug Collection Fix (Cyjon) - Fixes a bug that prevents Sims from finishing the bug collection.
Note: This fix is included in & replaced by Cyjon’s No Bug Hunting Bees mod, if you’d rather use that with it’s extra changes (use only one).

Butler Fix (Cyjon) - Fixes the bug where butlers won’t cook at all, as well as reducing their obsession with cooking too much.

BV Child “Animation Name is Empty String” Fix (JM Pescado) - Fixes cases where children’s animations such as drinking juice were broken by the Bon Voyage expansion pack.
Note: This mod was originally released before the BV patch, but the patch notes are not clear enough for me to tell whether all instances of this bug were fixed by the patch, so I have this mod in my game.

Creature Fixes (JM Pescado) - Includes a variety of fixes for supernatural Sims, especially witches.

Engagement Memory Fix (TwoJeffs) - Fixes a bug that can cause a sim to get the wrong (bad/good) type of engagement memory.

Fitness Delta Fix (Cyjon) - Fixes a bug which could allow a Sim's fitness to increase without limit or to stop at an arbitrary level.

Food Nap Fix (Cyjon) - Fixes a bug which causes Sims who fall asleep in their food to sleep until motive failure, by waking the Sim at the same energy level as passing out on the floor.

Genie Initialization Fix (Cyjon) - Fixes a critical EA bug regarding genie creation, that can potentially lead to game corruption.
Note: This fix is included in & replaced by Cyjon’s New Genie Wishes mod, if you’d rather use that with it’s extra changes (use only one).

Ghost Hack - Bug Fixes (Cyjon) - Contains a critical fix that prevents ghosts from haunting tombstones, potentially destroying them and corrupting your neighborhood. Also, smaller fixes that allow angry ghosts to visit the cowplant, and fixes reversed logic that causes Nice and Neat (rather than Grouchy and Sloppy) ghosts to create messes.
Cyjon’s Ghost Hack also includes several optional files; descriptions of those have been included below, under ‘Helpful Fix Mods’, ‘Fixes - Gameplay - Helpful’.

OFB Fixes (JM Pescado) - Includes a variety of bug fixes for the Open for Business expansion, such as servers forgetting customers if interrupted after taking an order.

Vacation Fixes (JM Pescado) - Includes a few bug fixes for the Bon Voyage expansion, such as abandoned beach objects self-destructing correctly, and outdoor snow no longer blocking activity objects from working indoors.

Woohoo Count Fix (Simler90) - Corrects how the game counts the number of Sims that a Sim has done Woohoo with.

Woohoo LTW Fix (Doctor Boris) - Corrects a bug where a Woohoo LTW memory gets given to the incorrect Sim.

  • OBJECTS

Exercise Bike Fix (Nopke) - Corrects several problems with the Exerto Super Exercise Bike, including Sims using it until going into motive failure, and issues with nearby TVs.

    BEHAVIOUR

Apology Fury Fix (Cyjon) - Allows the ‘Apology’ interaction to reduce furiousness, as it was originally supposed to.

Floor Sleep Fix (Cyjon) - Fixes a bug which causes sims passed out on the floor from energy failure to sometimes stop gaining energy, which can result in them not waking until they are near starvation or other motive failure.

Highly Recommended Fix Mods

The Sims 2 can run smoothly without these, but they are still recommended to prevent bugs, reduce annoyances, and for core gameplay elements to operate properly.

  • No Death Type Loss (SixAM) - In an unmodded game, when you send any tombstone(s) to a Community Lot, it loses its death type and the ghost of the Sim it belongs to will use the default ghost colour. This mod keeps the death type intact, but cannot fix tombstones that have already lost their death type.

No Sim Loaded (Boiling Oil, Midge the Tree) - Removes “Sim Loaded” tokens which may cause lag, plus removes some other controllers and tokens no longer in use. Use only one version.
Note: I recommend using the ‘Special’ version, which keeps gossip (unlike the basic versions) and includes pregnancy controller fixes (unlike the extralite versions).

ALfixes Replacement Project (EduPie a.k.a. Kaylynn-is-typing) - A collection of mods to replace J.M. Pescado’s alfixes mod because it had hidden features and conflicted with many other mods. Some of these are optional, or you have choices about which fix to use, but I thought it best to still include them together.

    • ESSENTIAL - Enthusiasm Overhaul (Tuna is a Fish) - “tunaisafish_enthusiasm-core” contains an important fix for Interests, plus tweaks for the rate Sims gain Enthusiasm and better matching Interests to Hobbies. It is also required for any/all of the add-ons:

      • OPTIONAL Add-Ons:
        “-maxOTHonly” makes the ‘One True Hobby’ more important than other Hobbies;
        “-decay” makes Hobby decay dependent on Sims’ Interests;
“-lesshobbylossmsg” stops messages about Enthusiasm loss; and
“-nophonecalls” stops the ‘keep it up’ and ‘buy this magazine’ phone calls (but not the dialog pop-up box, so you can still decide whether or not to subscribe to the magazine).

    • HELPFUL - Matchmaker Fix (Simler90) - Fixes some minor issues with the Matchmaker NPC on Community Lots.

    • HELPFUL fixes to properly restock Love Potions (USE ONLY ONE):

      • Option 1 - Love Potion Restock Fix (Ancient Highway) - Love Potions will no longer be incorrectly restocked as Nice Potions.

      • Option 2 - Business Mod (Simler90) - Includes numerous fixes and tweaks related to features in the Open for Business expansion, including ensuring that Sims are charged and credited correctly for purchases, and fixing many issues with restocking. Update 18 included a fix for Love Potion restocking, so if you want any of the other fixes or features of Simler90’s Business Mod, you do not need Ancient Highway’s fix above.

        • OPTIONAL Add-Ons:
          “-ClothingTokenFix” allows ‘Buy New Clothes/Jewelry/Pet Collar’ Wants to be satisfied on OFB lots;
“-SelectableMoneyEffectsOnly” removes money effects and sounds for non-selectable Sims; and
“-OfferAtCheapFix” fixes certain issues with the ‘Offer at Cheap’ interactions, but was included as an add-on since it is integrated in Simler90’s Townie Budget Mod and is therefore not needed if you’re using both.

    • ESSENTIAL - Physiology Fix (gummilutt) - Fixes a bug where Sims who have the Physiology Skill would gain Body Skill instantly.

    • OPTIONAL mods to make the Tinkering hobby interaction build Mechanical skill (USE ONLY ONE):

      • Option 1 - Skill While Tinkering (Boiling Oil) - Allows Sims to gain Mechanical Skill whenever they are Tinkering.

      • Option 2 - Tinkering Mod (Simler90) - Makes Tinkering a ‘skilling’ activity for Mechanical so Sims won’t stop tinkering when their fun motive is high. However, tinkering will build skills more slowly than studying from a book. Simler90 recommends using their Slower Skill Gain from Books Mod to change that.

    • ESSENTIAL *This was included above in Anti-Corruption, as well, but only install it once! I included it here as well since this problem was previously only solved by Pescado’s ALfixes.* - Get Parents Fix (Tuna is a Fish) - Prevents garbage data or random objects from populating parent slots, which can lead to recurring errors or in some cases, corruption. Plus, when both parents are present, the game will no longer always favour one over the other.

    • ESSENTIAL - The four remaining fixes (extracted by EduPie/Kaylynn-is-typing) - for apartment door locking, urnstones, piano animations, and moving the NPC rentpayer hour to 7pm instead of 12pm to prevent vampire tenants dying.

Apartment Residents’ Gender Fix (Nopke) - Randomizes the gender of newly created Apartment residents, rather than allowing the game to spawn same-gender Sims over and over as a flawed response to the gender distribution of Townies.

Bring Hobby Friend From Work Fix (TwoJeffs) - Fixes a bug that causes a Sim to bring the same Hobby Friend home from work ever day for the rest of their lives.

Butler Fix (Lazy Duchess) - Suppresses the “Error: Trying to access array element via iterator that does not exist” butler cooking error. This is a different bug fix than Cyjon’s Butler Fix (included above) and should not conflict.
However, it will conflict with Cyjon’s Better Butler Meals mod, so if you’d like to use that, you’ll need to use the compatible version of Lazy Duchess’ Butler Fix and make sure it loads afterwards.

FT Mini Fixes (JM Pescado) - Fixes several minor issues from the Free Time expansion pack, such as bugs related to the restorable car, Education reward bookcase, and arguments causing unrelated observers to lose their command queues.
Note: Despite that it isn’t listed in Pescado’s readme file, ftminifixes includes a fix for the same problem addressed by TwoJeffs' Engagement Memory Fix, listed above under ‘Critical Fix Mods’, ‘Bug Fixes - Most Important’, so you can remove that mod if you’re using this one.

    Gardening Fixes (usable together):

    • Dead Plant Missing Effect Fix (Midge the Tree) - Prevents errors caused by rain on dead plants.

    • Fish and Harvest Fix (JM Pescado) - Fixes issues introduced with the Seasons expansion, especially in relation to the Open for Business expansion. Most notably, fish caught by customers of a business lot fishing area will go to their inventories instead of the business owner’s, while fish caught and harvestables collected by family and employees of an owned business will go to the owner’s inventory rather than employees’.

    • Harvest Fix (Cyjon) - Fixes a bug from the Apartment Life expansion which causes crops to hang around after harvest.

    • Money Tree Watering Fix (Cyjon) - Fixes a bug where money tree water supply was not correctly updated when watered by servos or NPCs.

    • Orchard Tree Fix (JM Pescado) - Restores functionality of the Tend and Spray Many interactions for orchard trees.

    • Stuck Gardener Fix (Cyjon) - Fixes a bug that causes a Gardener NPC to stand by the truck and do nothing until dismissed if all landscape plants are inaccessible.

    • Winter Flower Fix (JM Pescado) - Prevents Gardener NPCs from trying to water flowers in early winter, which would cause them to go into an endless loop.

    Genie Wish Fixes (usable together):

    • Beauty Wish Sanity (Cyjon) - Adds checks so that Sims who visit after a wish for beauty will: be playables, Townies, Downtownies, or Social Group Sims and not Vacation locals; have an appropriate gender preference; and not be vampires during daylight hours.
Note: Do NOT add this mod to a game with an active beauty wish, and do not move a beautiful Sim off the property during the 4-day duration of the wish. These actions will trigger an EA bug (unrelated to this mod) where the chemistry aspect of the wish becomes permanent. However, if you do end up with the stuck chemistry bug, you can fix it using Cyjon’s Debugger and choosing “Fix…/Orphan Beauty Wishes”.

    • Peace of Mind Fix (Cyjon) - Stops the Genie wish for Peace of Mind from also giving credit for maximizing a business.

Job Fixes (JM Pescado & Doctor Boris) - Fixes several problems related to Open For Business (OFB) jobs with the Pets expansion, such as automatically promoting Sims to invalid levels, Sims getting demoted when a pet retires, and broken Hobby Chance Cards.
Note: The readme file says this mod is required for Pescado & Boris’ harderjobs mod, however, harderjobs was later updated to include all the changes in jobfixes. So if you decide to use harderjobs, you can remove jobfixes.

Phone Mods (Simler90) - I recommend you use at least four of the six mods in this collection:

    • “PhoneCellHotelRoomServiceFix” fixes a glitch where the game cannot properly recognize room service orders made from a cell phone on hotel lots;

    • “PhoneCommunityBusinessLotFix” stops calls to landline phones on OFB lots for Sims not in the owner’s family;

    • “PhoneRandomCallsFix” fixes caller randomization so it isn’t always the Sim with the highest neighbor ID (which could result in a burglar being the only one who calls your Sim ever again), plus fixes issue with who children are able to call; and

    • “PhoneTeenRunningFix” which fixes a bug where teens will keep running after they answer the phone.

    • HELPFUL - the remaining two mods in this collection are more optional, but still quite helpful additions to your game:

      • “PhoneEmergencyRunMod” makes Sims run to the phone if there is an active fire or burglar on the lot and the player initiates the Call > Service > Emergency interaction.

      • “PhoneNeighbourInviteOverRelMod” makes the game check an invited Sim’s attraction scores (not only relationship scores) to determine whether they accept the invitation.

Sell Great Novel Personal Wealth Fix (Midge the Tree) - Fixes a bug that prevented Sims who wrote a ‘Great Novel’ from getting the related earn money memories and fulfilled wants.

Sim Shadow Fix (Nopke) - Fixes the black box shadow glitch, but usable even if you don’t have that problem. Makes shadows achromatic rather than tinted blue. Read the mod’s detailed description to decide which version you want to use. As always, use only one version.

Skunk Attraction Fix (TwoJeffs) - Fixes the bug where attraction is calculated between a Sim and a skunk.
Note: This fix is included in and replaced by TwoJeff’s Teen/Adult Attraction Fix, so if you plan to have romantic relationship options between your Teen and Adult Sims, you will not need this fix.

Spectral Servant Animation Fix (Cyjon) - Fixes an animation error thrown by spectral servants, NPCs that can be summoned by Witches.

Timing Fix (Lazy Duchess) - Creates a new controller to prevent time system breaks that can result in broken aging, aspiration decay or other timed events not working.

University Professor Fixes (usable together, and unfortunately I do think you need all of them to completely fix how broken the university professors are, especially those for the Drama major):

    • Drama Fix (JM Pescado) - Prevents creation of Drama professor ‘met self’ memories and ‘lost best friend’ memory spam.

    • No Lecherous Drama Profs (Boiling Oil) - Prevents Drama professor NPCs from being in love with everyone they meet.

    • Meet Professors Fix (Cyjon) - Fixes a bug that occasionally causes university students to meet only one or neither professor.

    • Drama Prof Fix Add-On (Midge the Tree, Nopke) - Prevents relationships between students and professors in the Drama major from being set to 100/100 crush/love. Also prevents spam ‘Sim met professor’ notifications for non-selectable Sims.

    • Professor Schmooze Fix (Cyjon) - Fixes Drama professors so they can be schmoozed for better grades just like other professors.

View Many Fix (Simler90) - Prevents errors caused by the ‘View Many’ interaction introduced in the Free Time expansion by skipping objects missing the necessary interaction BHAV.

Warmth Fixes (JM Pescado) - Properly applies temperature caps, reduces the chance of spontaneous combustion and raises its temperature threshold to +90, and stops outdoor temperatures from affecting Sims that are indoors.

Young Enough for Pregnancy (Midge the Tree) - Fixes a few issues with how the game calculates whether there is enough time for an Adult Sim to complete a pregnancy before their Elder birthday.

  • Breadfruit Tree Fix (Cyjon) - Makes breadfruit trees fireproof (like saguaros and Joshua trees are) to avoid a bug in their animation files that prevents the fire effect from ever disappearing after the tree is struck by lightning.

Bookcase Art Nouveau Fix (Lord Darcy) - Restores the ‘Read to… [toddlers/children]’ interaction to the Novellas Nouveau Bookcase.
Note: If you want to use Lord Darcy’s Pie Menu Text Strings Fix, which mainly fixes redundancies for non-English languages, it includes this fix for all languages including English, so you do not need both.

Date Bandatron Fix (Cyjon) - Prevents non-playable dates from going to the bandatron autonomously. When the playable sim pays to go, makes the date paid for as well.

DJ Booth Fixes (Cyjon) - Fixes a few bugs with DJ booths, including allowing the DJ booth from the Free Time expansion to satisfy DJ wants and making Sims dance in front of it rather than behind it.

Door Jam Fix (JM Pescado) - Fixes an issue where doors would not properly close and become stuck ‘in use’.

Frame of Preference Fix (Cyjon) - Correctly marks the Frame Of Preference from the Mansions & Gardens stuff pack as an arch rather than a door.

FreeTime Cribs - Animated Fix (Menaceman44) - Enables the animations for the two cribs that came with the Free Time expansion pack, so Sims don’t stick their arms through the railings.

Lunatech ‘Lighten Up’ Ceiling Light Fix (Menaceman44) - Ensures the base game Lunatech ceiling light fits into the game ceilings, rather than floating below the ceiling.

Smart Milk Fix (Cyjon) - Fixes the bug where Toddlers keep the learning bonus from Smart Milk after the milk wears off.
Note: This mod won't help already-stuck Sims. However, they should outgrow it when they turn into a Teen, or you can use the FFS “Batbox” Lot Debugger (JM Pescado & Doctor Boris) or the Batbox as a Vase version (JoPlayingSims).

Spy Microphone Fixes (Cyjon) - Includes several bug fixes and tweaks for the Audio Augmenter Earpiece (the Intelligence career reward), such as only allowing ghost events if there is a tombstone on the lot and only allowing job events if the Sim has a job.

Trash Compactor Fix (Simler90) - Stops allowing Sims to put trash into broken trash compactors, which only works with the base game object unless you have a mod like this one.

  • Argue Social Fix (Cyjon) - Fixes reversed Social values so that mean Sims enjoy arguments more than nice Sims; arguing will always provides a Social boost for the instigating Sim. Also ensures that arguing will always lower both Sims’ STR and LTR relationship values rather than sometimes raising them.

    Baby and Toddler Pestering:

    • Limit autonomous interations (USE ONLY ONE):

      • No Baby Harassment (JM Pescado & Doctor Boris) - Stops almost all autonomous interactions with Baby- and Toddler-aged Sims which are non-essential to the Baby/Toddler’s survival.

      • No Baby Toddler Swarming (TwoJeffs) - A less strict version of Pescado’s nobabyharassment, but also considers more interactions. Plus, allows interactions with changing tables so that Sims may now change dirty diapers autonomously.

      • Note: If you want to use Pescado & Boris’ Baby Controller (search “babycontrol.package” here for info) or Sunrader’s Teddy version, you should use No Baby Harassment since Pescado’s mods can be used together but will conflict with TwoJeff’s No Baby Toddler Swarming.

    • Limit who reacts to births (USE ONLY ONE - I haven’t tested if/how these work differently, yet):

      • No Baby Stalking (Cyjon) - Total strangers will no longer break into your home in the middle of the night to witness the birth of your baby.

      • Only Family React to Birth (TwoJeffs) - When a sim gives birth only household members or family will react to the labor or ‘come see baby’. No more random walkbys running into the room to watch a total stranger have a baby.

Bad Floor Sleeping (Cyjon) - Gives Sims who voluntarily sleep on the floor the same motive changes as Sims who pass out. This means no comfort increase, slower energy increase and earlier waking.

Dance Advertising Tweaks (Cyjon) - Balances how attractive different dances are to Sims to prevent constant slap dancing, plus fixes a bug that prevents the Smustle from advertising more strongly to people with high Music & Dance Enthusiasm. Makes different dance types equally attractive to a typical Sim, with slight preferences based on personality and skill (Outgoing - Dance Together; Playful - Smustle; Charisma - Dance Solo; Creativity - Hula; Body - Slap Dance).

Dance Near Stereo (Cyjon) - Sims will now move near a stereo before doing the Smustle, Hula or Slap Dance rather than dancing to the music in their heads.

Date Go Home (Cyjon) - Makes non-selectable Sims (e.g. Townies or Sims from another lot) go home after you end a date on a Residential Lot.

Fury Initialization Fix (Cyjon) - Prevents ‘furious’ from ultimately improving relationships between Sims, by weakening the furious token so it is no stronger than any relationship lost.

No Dancing in Silence (TwoJeffs) - Eliminates the ‘Dance on Toes’ interaction unless there is music playing in the room.

More No Dancing in Silence (Cyjon) - Eliminates the ‘Slow Dance’ and ‘Classic Dance’ interactions unless there is a stereo is present, plus fixes a bug that prevents Adults and Elders from classic dancing together. Designed to complement TwoJeffs’ No Dancing in Dilence mod, above.

Smart Beds (TwoJeffs) - Makes the bed ownership system already present in the game actually work, so Sims are smarter about bed usage without any special objects to ‘assign’ beds or mods to the beds themselves. Sims will only be allowed to autonomously sleep or relax in the bed that they have the most ownership of, and when directed to sleep, they will automatically go to their own bed. Also adds several new pie menu options under when you click on the active Sim under the ‘Adjust… > Bed Ownership’ menu.

    • OPTIONAL Add-Ons:
      “Relax Plug-in” prevents Sims from relaxing when tired or when a Sim is sleeping on the other side of the bed (requires Smart Beds);
“CommSleep Plug-in” allows sleeping on Community Lots (can be used standalone, without Smart Beds); and
“ElderSleep Plug-in” makes Elders sleep until 6am like other Sims (can be used standalone, without Smart Beds).

Stay Means Stay (Cyjon) - Prevents the “Say Goodbye To… > Everyone” interaction from chasing off Bon Voyage house guests or Sims who have been asked to sleep over.

  • Aging Fixes (Simler90) - In addition to the Aging Baby to Toddler Fix listed above under Bug Fixes - Most Important, I recommend using Simler90’s other two aging fixes:

    • “Aging Townie Aspiration Fix” fixes a bug introduced by the Free Time feature that allows the player to age up Townies at the same time a played Sim ages up, where newly aged-up Teens would be stuck with the Grow Up Aspiration. Allows the player to pick the newly aged-up Teen Townie’s or Townies’ Aspiration and Turn Ons/Offs.

    • “Aging Birthday Party Fix” prevents the game from pushing a Sim to age up at 6pm if there is a birthday party going on, so you can host a birthday party in the evening.

Better College Parent Choice (kestrellyn) - Makes the game’s choice of parent for the entering college cinematic smarter, rather than always selecting the parent with the lowest neighbor ID. Ensures the parent chosen: is alive (an unmodded game’s only check); is not a vampire (because the cinematic takes place at 8am); and has met the Teen who is being sent to college, with a Lifetime Relationship (LTR) score above 0. Depending on which version you decide to use, it can also ensure the parent is playable OR is playable or a regular NPC such as a maid (“+townies” version). Be sure to only use one version.

    Bisexuality Fixes (usable together):

    • Bisexual Influence Fix (Cyjon) - Stops the Influence system from forcing bisexual sims to choose a gender preference by allowing romantic interactions to be directed at either men or women, rather than only whichever is higher. Also tweaks the Local Legend benefit for Romance Sims so it will work correctly with this mod.

    • No Bi Gender Preference Decrease (DeeDee Sims) - In cases where a Sim has a positive gender preference towards both genders, this mod prevents the game from decreasing their gender preferences. This is helpful because in an unmodified game, romantic interactions towards one gender will increase a Sim’s preference for that gender and decrease their preference for the other - which is not how bisexuality works.
Note: This mod will likely work even better if you pre-set Sims’ gender preferences with another mod, such as Autonomous Casual Romance (ACR) (TwoJeffs).

Call to Meal Fix (Cyjon) - Stops the “Call to Meal” interaction from calling Servos, PlantSims, Babies, Toddlers, and on-the-job NPCs. Also makes Sims respond to plates anywhere on the property, not just in the same room as the platter (great for houses with separate dining rooms!).

Carpool Warning Fix (Cyjon) - Allows carpool warnings for Sims who are sick or in first stage of pregnancy, so you know when call in sick if you need to.

Extended Family (kestrellyn) - Makes the game recognize great-grandparents, great-grandchildren, great-aunts/uncles (grandparents’ siblings), and grand-nieces/nephews (siblings’ grandchildren) as family members. Depending which version you use, it can also recognize second cousins (people whose parents are first cousins) and first cousins once removed (a first cousin’s children or a parent’s first cousins). Removes romantic actions for these extended family members and allows ‘Family Kiss’ and ‘Encourage…’ interactions between them.
Note: If you’re using this mod, you may also want to use kestrellyn’s ‘Met New Great-Grandchild’ custom memory. Be sure to only use one version - I use the gender neutral version for simplicity, but there is also a version that uses gendered pronouns.

Less Late Penalty (Cyjon) - Corrects performance penalties so that being late for work is no longer worse than skipping a day entirely. Also prevents Sims from being automatically fired if they’re late for work three times, but Sims can still be fired for low performance as a result of being late.

Maternity Pay Fix (Cyjon) - Stops Sims from receiving maternity pay on their days off, and getting paid twice if they walk to work (vacation pay plus normal work pay). Walking to work will still waive the Sim’s maternity leave, resulting in a lost vacation day.

    Tend Inaccessible Plants (usable together):

    • Water Inaccessible Flowers Fix (DumbFool a.k.a. dickhurt) - Allows Sims to water all flowers on lots, as well as dispose of all dead flowers, including completely inaccessible or blocked ones. This means you can surround flowers with fencing without adding a gate or use cheats to put flower beds on a roof.
If you’d prefer to allow the watering and disposing of flowers on half-tiles but not other inaccessible locations, you can use the “df_water_half_tile_flowers_fix” version. As always, only use one version.

    • Trim Inaccessible Bushes (Cyjon) - Allows Sims to trim bushes even if they’re inaccessible.

Toga Party Dresscode Fix (JM Pescado) - Forces Young Adult (YA) Sims attending a Toga Party to actually wear togas instead of their underwear, pajamas, etc. (Since there are no togas available for other age groups, non-YA Sims are excused.)

Townie Job Fix (Cyjon) - Allows Townies, including Teens and Elders, to have any job rather than being restricted to jobs from the base game. Will also allow Townies to get custom jobs, if you have any.

Yoga and Meditation Fix (Cyjon) - Fixes an issue where yoga and meditation commands will drop out of the queue if the Sim is not currently selected. Particularly helpful for queuing multiple yoga commands so Sims will resume when they fall.

  • IN-GAME OBJECTS

FFS “Batbox” Lot Debugger (JM Pescado & Doctor Boris) - A big box you can place on a lot and click on for a bunch of debug options, such as fixing stuck events and animations. Includes features for properly randomizing Sim creation (fixes the “firstborn” effect glitch) and upgrading Adult or Elder Sims as if they went to university (gives 2 extra Want slots, a 2nd lock for Wants/Fears, and the ability to apply to University jobs).
Note: I recommend reading through the whole list of features, since some never graduated from “experimental” status or are for mod testing purposes only.

    • Vase version (JoPlayingSims a.k.a. joandsarah77) - A prettier version of the Batbox. (You only need to use one version.)

Cyjon’s Debugger - A pizza box you can place on your lot and click on to get information and debug options, such as randomizing Turn Ons/Offs and clearing relevant tokens before removing certain other mods.

Cyjon’s Lot Inspector - A version of the Prof. von Ball volleyball (used by Knowledge Sims in Aspiration Failure) you can place on a lot to get reports on the presence of urns and tombstones, “offworld loiterers” (invisibly generated Sims), and owned businesses (from Open For Business expansion gameplay). These checks are very helpful to make sure a lot is clear before deleting it, to avoid errors and corruption.

    EXTERNAL PROGRAMS

Hack Conflict Detection Utility (HDCU) Plus (Pick’N’Mix Mods) - An application you can use to check for potential conflicts between mods, even before you use them! Detailed information and screenshots to help you get it working are in the link; you can download v2.1 at the very bottom.

Mootilda’s HoodChecker - An application that will examine your neighborhood, look for signs of corruption, and provide you with a detailed report of everything that it finds. Running these checks doesn’t change anything in your neighbourhood, so it’s safe to check as often as you’d like. If it does find problems, you have the option for HoodChecker to attempt to fix some of those problems. The reports will also give you information you’ll need if you need to fix something yourself using SimPE.

SimPE (Quaxi, Peter L Jones, EmilyPhonic, vonLeeb) - An application used to access, view, and modify the .package files used by The Sims 2. Can be used for a wide variety of edits to game files, from changing a Sim’s name to making gameplay overhaul mods. For help getting it set up, information on how it works, and finding tutorials, The SimPE Preservation Project on Mod The Sims is a great place to start.

Helpful Fix Mods

As the heading implies, these mods are helpful for fixing bugs, reducing annoyances, and otherwise improving gameplay. While the mods in this section are not as critical as those above, I strongly recommend going through them and using all the ones that sound useful for how you like to play!

  • AL UI Font Fix (DanTheMann15) - Fixes the tiny text in multiple locations in the user interface (UI) introduced with the Apartment Life expansion, the Live mode “Needs” text size, the pets’ UI spring season image, and the icon in the “Name your witch cat” dialog.

Breakup Fix (JM Pescado & Doctor Boris) - Stops the automatic eviction of a non-resident Sim from their home when they’re broken up with. For example, if a married couple is break up, the breakup-ee will no longer be evicted. If a couple breaks up on a Community Lot, you will have to move out a Sim yourself.

Caged Pet Fixes (TwoJeffs) - Fixes several bugs and annoyances with small pets, including stuck food boxes, what will wake up Sims, and random bird deaths due to their Hunger sometimes continuing to decay while the game is paused. Also makes caged pets’ food supply last longer and adds a warning dialog box when a caged pet’s food dish is nearly empty.

Carpool Fixes (JM Pescado & Doctor Boris) - Ensures friends brought home from work are dressed according to their own rank, reduces the unloading clog for vehicles with insufficient doors, and allows you to load more than one Sim into a helicopter at a time without causing unrelated queue drops.

Chat Invite Icon Fix (Cyjon) - When inviting a Sim over when chatting on the computer, the accept dialog will no longer show the icon of some random object.

Complain to Owner Social Fix (TwoJeffs) - Fixes a bug in the customer complaint social interaction that could cause errors on owned business lots.

Customer Cleanup (Cyjon) - Automatically removes a business owner’s household members from their customer list. Sims who marry the business owner or are otherwise invited to join the household can otherwise get stuck in the customer list.

Dorm Bill Fix (JM Pescado) - Fixes a divide-by-zero that occurs if there are no dorm doors (i.e. the Myne Door) on a dorm lot.

Elder Career Outfit Fixes (JM Pescado) - Fixes job uniforms for Elders in the Space Pirate, Safari, Journalist, Diver, and Rockstar careers.

Fragile BFF (Cyjon) - Clears ‘BFF’ status when Sims become Enemies.

Genie Delivery Fix (TwoJeffs) - Fixes a bug where the Matchmaker cannot perform any of her duties after delivering a Genie lamp to any family.
Note: Matchmakers ‘broken’ before this fix is installed will need to deliver another lamp before they’ll be ‘fixed’.

Grammar and Typo Fixes (usable together):

    • AL Mysterious Bookcase Name Fix (Menaceman44) - Fixes the catalog text for the Apartment Life ‘Mysterious Looking Bookcase’ which is missing a letter ‘i’.

    • ‘Column - Tech’ Catalogue Text (Menaceman44) - Adds a name and description for an item otherwise just listed as ‘Column - Tech’ from the Apartment Life expansion.

    • Energy Consumption Text Fix (Menaceman44) - Fixes a misspelling of ‘consumption’ in green energy pop-ups introduced by the Mansions & Gardens stuff pack.

    • General Practioner Job Title Fix (Menaceman44) - Corrects a typo in the Medicine Career from “Practioner” to “Practitioner”.
Note: Is included in and replaced by Phaenoh’s Level Numbers Added to Job Titles, listed below under ‘More Optional Mods’, ‘Careers’.

    • Grammar Popup Replacement for Deserting Pets (Nysha) - Replaces “ran” with “run” in the pop-up dialog text telling you a pet has run away. Use only one version; the modder included an option to also replace the second instance of your pet’s name with the word “them” for better sentence flow.

    • Job Typo Fixes (Cyjon) - Replaces several incorrect words in job titles: “douser” with “dowser”; “restauranteur” with “restaurateur”; and “investigatory” with “investigative reporter”.

    • Learned Teleport Text Correction (Menaceman44) - Fixes the pop-up dialog text to read “You have now learned…” instead of “You have the learned…”.

    • Nukem Reggae Wall Speaker Catalogue Correction (Menaceman44) - Restores the correct name of the Reggae community speaker so it is no longer called the “Bubblegum Sugar” Pop Speaker in the catalogue.

    • Thackeray Chair Name Correction (Menaceman44) - Changes the spelling of the Thackeray Chair to be the same in the item description as its name in the catalogue.

Hats Don’t Change Clothes (Cyjon) - Stops Thinking Caps and Noodlesoothers from forcing Sims into their default clothing.

Lightning Storm Fix (Cyjon) - Fixes a bug that prevents intense lightning storms. In other words, this mod allows intense lightning storms to occur.

    Memory Fixes (usable together):

    • Memory Fixes (Cyjon) - Fixes bugs with several memories and their associated gossip: LTW Marry Off X Children; LTW Have X Grandchildren; LTW Have X Best Friends; and Have Great/Lousy Anniversary Party.
Note: You must use an edited version of this mod for it to be compatible with Midge the Tree’s Party Memory Fixes, below. You can either remove the BHAVs with groups 0x7F6762AD and 0x7FC2122B yourself using SimPE, or download my version from SFS here. As always, only use one version.

    • Party Memory Fixes (Midge the Tree) - Changes the subject of Anniversary Party memories to be the Sim themselves rather than a random object, plus adds memories for Graduation Parties (where they’ll also be the subject).
Notes: Incorporates and replaces JM Pescado’s Grad Party Mem Fix, so you won’t need that. Will conflict with Cyjon’s Memory Fixes, above, unless you remove the BHAVs with groups 0x7F6762AD and 0x7FC2122B using SimPE, or use my edited version of Cyjon’s Memory Fixes instead (SFS link). As always, only use one version.

    • Memory Mod (Simler90) - Fixes several problems with memories and memory-related interactions related to Private School, scholarships, and giving congratulations. Also corrects whether certain memories should be repeatable or not, namely ‘Rejected for Woohoo’, ‘Passed Out’, and counted memories such as ‘Had 10 Best Friends’ and ‘Had 10 Simultaneous Loves’.

Move Out Fixes (Midge the Tree) - Two mods:

    • “ApartmentNPCMoveOutFix” will help the game recognize when an NPC apartment resident is made playable and make their apartment vacant so a new Sim can move in;

    • “DormieMoveOutFix” ensures that if you move enough playable Sims into a University dorm that all the Dormies need to move out, they’ll actually do so.

Negative Promotion Bonus Fix (Midge the Tree) - Prevents a Sim’s pay from becoming a negative number when the total money they earn combined with their bonus from the Skilled Negotiator Fortune Aspiration Benefit exceeds $32,767. The notification will still display a negative amount, but the Sim will still receive the capped amount of $32,767.

Networking Fixes (Midge the Tree) - Two mods:

    • “Networking Friend Fix” prevents errors caused when s Townie offers to introduce your Sim to a new friend but your town does not have at least one male and one female Townie available to choose from.

    • “Networking Job Fix” makes Sims with owned business (OFB) jobs no longer eligible for networking rewards and penalties including promotion, demotion, higher wages, and Office Pariah.

No Fake Sleepover Whining (Cyjon) - Fixes a bug where visiting Sims whine about being invited to sleep over when they weren't.

No Hidden Woohoo (Cyjon) - Restores the method of temporarily hiding woohooing Sims used before the Nightlife expansion was released, which helps prevent visitors from leaving because they think no one is home.

Paper Count Fix (Cyjon) - By only counting real newspapers, this mod prevents false warnings about having too many newspapers caused by Sims using an imaginary newspaper on the toilet.

Pie Menu Text Strings Fix (Lord Darcy) - Fixes broken pie menus plagued with redundant functions and wrong translations, especially in non-English languages.
Note: This mod includes Lord Darcy’s Bookcase Art Nouveau Fix included above under ‘Fixes - Objects - Essential’, so be sure to delete that mod if you’d rather use this one as a broader solution instead.

Random Chance Fix (DumbFool a.k.a. dickhurt) - Restores how the game correctly calculated random chances before the Free Time expansion pack, instead of the broken method used afterwards where things only meant to occur 33% of the time started occurring 50% of the time and things meant to occur 50% of the time started occurring 66% of the time.

Relationship Decay Fix (Cyjon) - Fixes a bug which causes the game to error out when calculating the 4pm relationship decay on very large families.
Note: You don’t need this fix unless you use a mod that allows more than 8 Sims in a household, but it doesn’t hurt to have it either way. It was designed for use with Cyjon’s Bigger Families mod.

Sim Transparency Fix (Lazy Duchess) - Prevents Sims from randomly getting broken transparency details on glasses, hair, etc.

Write in Diary Pen Fix (Menaceman44) - Replaces the scalpel Sims use to write in diaries with the pen they use to do crosswords.

Yoga Join Fix (Simler90) - Fixes a bug that prevented visitors from joining yoga, even when invited to using the ‘Ask To Join Yoga’ interaction.

Yowling Cat Fix (Cyjon) - Fixes a bug where scolding cats for yowling made them more likely to yowl.

  • Accessible Toddler High Chairs (Lamare) - Allows Sims to access any high chair from the left and right sides, as well as diagonally placed high chairs. Now your toddlers can have a high chair at the dining table instead of being several feet away!

Biotech Station Fixes (use only one):

    • Biotech Fix (JM Pescado & Doctor Boris) - Fixes the Biotech Station medicine so it will actually work as the game intended. There will be a chance that the biotech medicine will reduce the severity of the first active disease (if any), or will infect the Sim.

    • Biotech Fix (Cyjon) - Does not fix the medicine; instead makes the Biotech Station act more like a skill object where Sims can train Logic continuously and gain Hobby Enthusiasm. It will produce a vial of medicine at the end, but it will be junk that can only be thrown out, and will never produce medicine that will make Sims sick.

Brighter Computer Screens (NixNivis) - Makes the screens for all in-game computers (and some CC computers, depending how they were made) brighter, so they look nicer and match the ones that came with the Free Time expansion.

Coffins are for Vampires (Cyjon) - Stops non-Vampire Sims from autonomously sleeping in coffins. (They can still be directed to.)

Corbel Placement Correction (Menaceman44) - Alters the placement of the decorative corbel that came with the Apartment Life expansion so that it is in the center of the tile.

Dance Sphere In Use Fix (TwoJeffs) - Helps Sims properly tell if the dance sphere is in use, so they’ll no longer complain about not being able to get in it.

Espresso Machine Mapping Fix (Menaceman44) - Fixes the mesh of the espresso machine from the University expansion pack so that its trim correctly matches the corresponding counters’ trim.
Note: You do not need this fix if you are using or plan to use the “CEP” (Color Enable Package) by Numenor, since Havelock’s solution for this meshing problem was included in v9.1.

Exercise Tweaks (Cyjon) - Adjusts Energy motive reduction rates for different exercise equipment so they’re a bit more logical and consistent. (The specific amounts are listed in the mod description.)

Modular Synth Fix (Cyjon) - Allows the Modular Synth to be treated as a skill object rather than strictly a fun object, as it should be. This means Sims will use it longer when directed to by the player. Sims will still check their Fun need when using it autonomously.

Rugs Off-Grid (HugeLunatic) - Stops rugs from ‘sinking’ into floors and fixes lighting glitches caused by placing them off the standard grid. To install this mod, you will need to put the “…DL.package” in your Downloads folder like usual, but the “…Bin.package” will need to go into an installation folder - see the mod’s page for detailed instructions.

Stair Modular Passage Fix (Lord Darcy) - Allows Sims to pass under all Maxis modular stairs, just like the base game ’Holy Smoke’ stairs, as well as use bookcases placed on the tile under the highest part of the modular stairs. You can choose from a version that only allows Sims to walk under the modular stairs with no supports from the Pets expansion pack, or one that works for all modular stairs. It will not work on the pre-built staircases in the game, but you can use SimPE to make custom modular stairs compatible.

Stair Wall Fix (JRW) - A set of trim pieces you can use to make the angled walls alongside stairs look more polished.

Stuff Pack Objects Fix Collection (Lord Darcy) - Includes fixes for several items included across The Sims 2 Happy Holiday Stuff (SP3), Celebration Stuff (SP4), H&M Fashion Stuff (SP5), Teen Style Stuff (SP6), Kitchen & Bath Interior Design Stuff (SP7), and IKEA Home Stuff (SP8) packs. To install this mod, you will need to put the “…DownloadsAL.package” in your Downloads folder like usual, but the “…BinsAL.package” and “…Overrides_AL.package” files will need to go into different installation folders - see the mod’s page for detailed instructions.

Telescopes on Community Lots (Inge a.k.a. Simlogical) - Allows you to place the two Maxis telescopes on Community Lots.

  • Basketball Quit Fix (Cyjon) - Stops Sims from walking all the way over to a basketball court if you cancel the ‘Play Basketball’ action before they reach it.

Cancel Diary (Cyjon) - Makes Sims stop immediately if you cancel the ‘Write in Diary’ interaction while they are walking, rather than starting the action and writing a few lines anyway before stopping.

Cancel Paper (Cyjon) - Makes Sims stop immediately if you cancel an interaction with the newspaper, rather than reading it briefly.
Note: Cyjon recommends using this mod in combination with Smarter Chair Selection, listed below, for best results.

Chinese and Coffee Sit Down Fix (TwoJeffs) - Makes Sims look for the closest appropriate place to sit to drink/eat instead of only looking in their current room and ending up standing.
Note: This mod conflicts with Cyjon’s Smarter Chair Selection, listed below. Use this mod if you only want to change seating behaviour for Chinese food and coffee, or use Cyjon’s if you want a more comprehensive solution. You cannot use both.

Death by Toddler Toy Fix (TwoJeffs) - Allows Sims who use the 'Play with' interaction to play with a toddler using a toy to stop if a motive becomes critical, instead of continuing to play with the toddler until they die of starvation or energy failure.

Fewer Enemy Visits (Cyjon) - Reduces the frequency of visits by furious Sims. You can choose the amount based on which of the four packages you put in your Downloads folder (use only one).
Note: It’s recommended that you use this mod in combination with Furious Walkby Fix, below.

Fewer Wolves (Cyjon) - Prevents wolves other than the Leader of the Pack from visiting your property, since they appear to do nothing but scratch at the door. The Leader of the Pack is not affected by this mod.
Note: If you want to eliminate all visits from wolves including the Leader of the Pack, use Cyjon’s No Wolves mod instead. You cannot use both.

Food Already Available Fix (TwoJeffs) - Expands the check to see if food is already available before allowing a Sim to autonomously cook so that it will include Chinese food and buffet tables, not only group meals and pizza.

Furious Walkby Fix (Cyjon) - Fixes several problems with visits from furious Sims, including randomizing which furious Sim will visit so it is not always the same one when there are multiple, and looking for Enemy Sims if no furious Sims are found.
Note: It’s recommended that you use this mod in combination with Fewer Enemy Visits, above.

Less Naked Freakout (Cyjon) - Stops Sims from freaking out when they see a naked Sim if they are in love with that Sim.

Loop Fixes (Cyjon) - Fixes some annoying loop behaviours by blocking actions if the Sim is going to quit the action immediately. The behaviours covered include: read book; write in diary; watch movie; use bubble machine; juggle bottles; tai chi; play computer game, in hammock, Mahjong, the llama game, and basketball; slide down banister; remote control cars and helicopter; PlantSim “get a drink”; tuck in (cribs and beds); dance solo; and using the diving board if already swimming.

More Dishes (Cyjon) - Increases the amount of dishes that a Sim can collect from 5 to 7, so they can pick up the amount of dirty dishes created by serving a group meal (a platter and six plates).

More Sleep (Cyjon) - Allows you to direct a Sim to go to sleep at night, even if the Sim is not tired.

No Food Theft (Cyjon) - Applies food ownership logic introduced in the Bon Voyage expansion to prevent Sims from attempting to steal leftovers or buffet dishes from other Sims in the brief moment after the dish has been created but before it is in the hand of the Sim. Without this mod, such attempts will result in the dish disappearing.

No Weightlifting Weenies (Cyjon) - Makes active/fit Sims keep thinking of workout machines as skill objects, instead of changing to think of them as fun objects which they would quit much faster. This means lazy Sims will no longer workout longer than active ones.

No Window Shopping (Cyjon) - Stops walkbys from trying to walk up to random windows to “window shop” at your owned businesses.

No Work Hats (Cyjon) - Makes Sims automatically take off the Noodlesoother, Thinking Cap, and Cool Shades before they go to work or school by bus, owned car, or carpool (includes Captain Hero and Ecological Guru even though they don’t use a vehicle). You’ll still need to remember to remove them before directing a Sim to walk or fly to work or school.

Overeating and Spoiled Food (cannot use both options):

    • OPTION 1 - Eat More Talk Less (Crammyboy a.k.a. CBOY) - Stops Sims from talking while eating if their Energy, Hunger, Fun or Bladder Needs are extremely low, or if they’re in a bad mood. Also makes Sims talk less if their Social Need is maxed. Adds rules for whether Sims will overeat based on how many Active personality points they have (0-4 will always overeat, 4-6 have a 50% chance, 6-8 will have a 25% chance, and 8-10 will never overeat). Prevents Sims from eating spoiled food unless they are very hungry or very Sloppy (low Neat personality points).
Notes: Conflicts with the two Cyjon eating-related mods below. You can only use this mod OR those two.
Generally, I recommend this one since it’s more all-in-one, however, if you want Zombies to be able to eat spoiled food in your game, use Cyjon’s instead.

    • OPTION 2 - These 2 mods can be used together, but will conflict with CBOY’s Eat More Talk Less, above.

      • No Eat Crap (Cyjon) - Makes Sims with 5 or more Active personality points stop eating when they’re full, unless they’re pregnant. Sims with 0-4 Active personality points, and pregnant Sims regardless of personality points, will always overeat.

      • No Spoiled Food (Cyjon) - Prevents sims from even considering eating spoiled food unless they are very hungry or very Sloppy (low Neat personality points). The “-Zombie” version will also allow Zombies to eat spoiled food. Use only one version.
Note: If you plan to use the “-Zombie” version, you’ll likely also want to use Cyjon’s Zombie Iron Stomach mod to make Zombies immune to food poisoning.

Put Away Books, Newspapers and Magazines (usable together):

    • Always Use Bookshelf (Cyjon) - Makes Sims always put books away on bookshelves rather than putting them on tables.

    • Magazine-Newspaper Put Away Fix (Simler90) - Makes Sims put magazines and newspapers down on a surface such as an end table or coffee table rather than the floor, even when the player cancels an interaction, unless there is no available surface. Sims in an Apartment will only consider surfaces within their Apartment suite.

Reduced Playing in Bathtub (TwoJeffs) - Restricts the ‘play in bathtub’ interactions to Sims who are very bored (low Fun Need) or very Playful (high personality points). Alternatively, there is a version that will stop the interaction altogether. Use only one version.

Smarter Chair Selection (Cyjon) - Improves Sims’ logic about where to sit during activities like reading, studying, listening to music (stereos and instruments), or eating/drinking pizza, Chinese food, refrigerator snacks, instant meals, coffee, hot chocolate, or espresso. Sims will prefer, in order: seats in the room; in the Apartment (if on an Apartment Lot); indoors; anywhere else. Sims will also prefer unattached chairs (such as sofas and easy chairs) over chairs scooted up to dining tables, bars, desks, game tables, etc.
Note: This mod conflicts with TwoJeffs’ Chinese & Coffee Sit Down Fix, listed above. Use TwoJeffs’ mod if you only want to change seating behaviour for Chinese food and coffee, or use this one if you want a more comprehensive solution. You cannot use both.

Smarter Privacy (Cyjon) - Changes how privacy checks work for bathrooms and Woohoo so that Sims are smarter about ignoring Sims they cannot shoo. Both checks will ignore: non-Servo robots, Social Bunnies, Therapists, Ghosts, Spectral Servants, hidden Sims, and sleeping Sims. The bathroom privacy check will also ignore anyone the Sim has a crush on or is in love with, regardless of their ages.

Soccer Quit Fix (Cyjon) - Stops Sims from walking all the way over to a soccer net if you cancel the ‘Play Soccer’ action before they reach it.

Social Push Tweaks (Cyjon) - Prevents the ‘Dance Together’ and ‘Dirty Joke’ social interactions from jumping the command queue and blocking other commands.

Stop Kissing Me (Cyjon) - Stops Sims from using a kiss interaction when greeting or saying goodbye, unless their relationship is crush or love.

Teaching Fix (Cyjon) - Prevents teaching commands such as helping children with homework from being wiped out by other commands in the queue. Also affects teaching on career objects.

Tipping Fix (JM Pescado & Doctor Boris) - Makes Sims with higher skill levels more likely to receive tips, makes tips actually come from the tipper’s funds, and makes sure tippers won’t give more than they can afford. Tippers will also move away from the tip jar after they’ve contributed (meaning you will not need TwoJeffs’ Busker Tipping Hack).
Note: This mod is compatible with Cyjon’s No Home Buskers, which stops Sims from autonomously placing tip jars when they ‘Perform’ with an instrument on a residential lot.

Visitor Snacking Fix (TwoJeffs) - Stops visitors from raiding your fridge during a party if there is other food available.
Note: It is highly recommended that you use this mod with TwoJeff’s Food Already Available Fix (included above), or visitors will ignore buffet tables and Chinese food.

Watch TV from All Chairs (MogHughson) - Allows Sims to watch television from chairs not directly facing the TV set, such as those on an angle. Sims will try to choose the chair with the clearest view, nearest to the TV, that is available.

  • Call Anyone (Lazy Duchess) - Allows you to call Sims even if their house doesn’t have a phone or if they are in the Family Bin.
Note: HDCU Plus does not report any conflicts with Cyjon’s Call NPCs, listed below, so it should be fine to use them both, but I haven’t personally tested that yet.
This mod will conflict with Pescado & Boris’ Phone Hack, listed below.

Call NPCs (Cyjon) - Reverts a “fix” made by the Free Time expansion pack so Sims can call NPCs again, plus Bon Voyage masseurs.
Note: HDCU Plus does not report any conflicts with Lazy Duchess’ Call Anyone, above, so it should be fine to use them both, but I haven’t personally tested that yet.

Cheesecake Twins Fix (TwoJeffs) - Fixes the issue where if a pregnant Sim eats cheesecake it will always change the pregnancy to twins, by replacing that guarantee with a random chance of 50%, 20%, or 10% depending which version you install. Use only one version.

Children Say Goodbye (Cyjon) - Allows children to say goodbye to guests.

Command Queue Tweaks (Cyjon) - Adjusts the command queue location of the “Scrap Painting” re-issued command so it will be processed immediately rather than being added to the end of the queue.

Date Stood Up Fix (Lazy Duchess) - Fixes a broken timer system that could result in a Sim complaining that you ‘stood them up’ for a date or outing before they should have, especially if you’re playing at a higher game speed.

Dress Me Correctly (MogHughson) - Controls which outfit a Sim will put on when they get out of the shower or bath based on how close they are to going to bed, work, or school, instead of always putting on their everyday outfit.

Fewer Lightning Fires (Cyjon) - When struck by lightning, tree fire chance reduced from 30% to 5% and other object fires reduced from 15% to 5%.

Fire Mod (Simler90) - Makes it so that Sims who ‘Study Fire Safety’ will panic less and will either call the fire department, try to extinguish the fire, or run out of the house (rather than acting no differently from a Sim who did not study it). Also fixes a bug where Ghosts reacting to a fire could make the game delete the Ghost and deliver a “Sim has died on another lot” notification.

Ghost Hack (Cyjon) - The “-BugFixes.package” file was listed above under ‘Critical Fix Mods’, ‘Bug Fixes - Most Important’, since it contains a critical fix. The remaining files in Cyjon’s Ghost Hack are optional so you can choose which of the below features you’d like to include:

    • “-AmokServos” makes Servos ‘run amok’ rather than die from being ‘scared to death.’

    • “-AngerTweaks” makes Ghosts with Nice personalities less angry, and Ghosts with Grouchy personalities more angry.

    • “-CleanerGhosts” makes happy Ghosts more likely to clean.

    • “-FrightDeathTweaks” significantly lowers motive thresholds for being ‘scared to death’ so Sims are less likely to die from fright. Also makes PlantSims and Servos no longer immune to death by fright.
Note: This mod works by itself but is designed to balance “-ScaringTweaks”, below.

    • “-LessCowplantObsession” stops cowplant Ghosts from obsessively teasing the cowplant to the exclusion of all other activity.

    • “-LessFlooding” limits the number of puddles drowned Ghosts can create.

    • “-PushyScares” allows Ghosts to successfully scare sleeping Sims rather than giving up before the Sim gets out of bed.

    • “-QuietGhosts” stops Ghosts from arbitrarily waking Sims up by being in the same room (but can still wake Sims when complaining about a missing object).

    • “-ScaringTweaks” changes scaring frequency and intensity to be based on a number of factors including the Ghost’s personality, relationship with the target, and type of death. Scares will drain all motives, including PlantSims’ Sunshine and Servos’ Power. Ghosts will scare random targets instead of picking on a single person.
Note: This mod works by itself but is designed to balance “-FrightDeathTweaks”, above.

    • “-SpawnTweaks” allows more Ghosts to spawn on Community Lots, but bans Ghosts younger than Teens because of missing or broken animations for Toddler and Child Ghosts. Also makes coffin scare Ghosts the same colour as fright ghosts, and makes drowned Ghosts a little easier to see.
Note: You may have a bunch of Ghosts spawn during the daytime on Community Lots with tombstones the first time you load into them with this mod installed. The daytime Ghosts will leave/disappear within an hour or so; it’s just a side effect of the tombstones syncing with the new code.

Hobby Friend Fixes (use only one):

    • Hobby Friend Fix (Midge the Tree) - Ensures Sims will not try to bring home Bus Drivers, which are not meant to be real NPCs you can socialize with, as “Hobby friends.” Also adds age checks (so a Child won’t bring home an Adult, for example), and is compatible with Simler90’s School Bring Home Friend Mod as long as this Hobby Friend Fix loads afterwards.

    • Hobby Friend Sanity (Cyjon) - Ensures that Sims who bring home friends due to Hobby Cards will only bring Sims of the same age group (so a Child won’t bring home an Adult, for example). If no Sim with the right Enthusiasm can be found, an appropriately aged Townie will be forced to have the Hobby.

Homework Help and Placement (cannot use both options together):

    • OPTION 1 - Homework Assignment Mods (Simler90):

      • Homework Assignment Mod - the “-PlacementVersion” helps children and teens find a desk or dining table to put their homework on. The “-FullVersion” does the same, plus makes it take longer for a Sim to do homework, do assignments, and learn how to study. Sims’ Logic skills will also contribute to their teaching and learning rates. Use only one version.

      • Homework Help Mod - Makes it so that Sims can only request help for their own homework and Sims can only offer help to a Sim whose homework you’ve clicked on. Also allows Teens to help other Teens if the ‘teacher’ has higher grades than the ‘student’, so for example, A+ student Dirk could help C- student Lilith with her homework. Only Sims on the lot and/or within the Apartment suite will be available options to “Ask for Homework Help.”

    • OPTION 2 - All three of the following:

      • Desk Fix (Cyjon) - Helps children place items like homework on desks more successfully.

      • Help Homework Owner (Cyjon) - Makes only the owner’s name appear on the homework menu, and students have to select their own homework to ask for help. Potential helpers will be limited to Sims present on the lot.

      • Put Homework Down (Cyjon) - Makes Children, Teens and Young Adults look for an empty desk to put homework on rather than giving up after trying the same desk as another Sim. Cyjon recommends using this mod alongside his Desk Fix, listed above, for best results.

Late Sleepover (Cyjon) - Sims can ask other Sims to stay the night even if it's after midnight.

Phone Hack (JM Pescado & Doctor Boris) - Fixes a few bugs and removes several annoyances:
    - Stops the parents of children talking on the phone and the Headmaster from inviting themselves over;
    - Allows Sims married to a Headmaster to properly invite over a new Headmaster;
    - Fixes an unspecified bug with Teens Going/Sneaking Out with the Pets expansion;
    - Allows Teens to Go/Sneak Out even if they have no parent/guardian;
    - Stops your Sims from following through with your commands to call a certain Sim if that Sim will be angry about the time of the call (does not affect Emergency, Service, Transportation, Sneak Out, or Prank calls);
    - Changes calls from Friends with fading relationships to be to actually talk to your Sim instead of just to complain they aren’t talking enough;
    - Limits who Children can call to family members and other Children;
    - Stops callers from calling if they are scheduled to be at school or work;
    - Allows Teens to introduce a Sim to their parents using the phone, and Teens won’t get yelled at unless the ‘phone call join’ is declined;
    - Allows you to invite the Headmaster if your Toddler will auto-transition into a Child at 6pm (18:00) while the Headmaster scenario is in progress;
    - Stops the game from generating a useless NPC when your Sim calls in sick; and
    - Adds a ‘Set Ringer’ feature to phones so you can decide how many rings you’d like for incoming calls: 5, 10, 15, the default 20, or even none at all with the ‘OFF’ setting.
Notes: This mod will conflict with Simler90’s Phone Mods - PhoneRandomCallsFix, listed above under ‘Highly Recommended Mods’, ‘Fixes - Bugs - Essential’, and Lazy Duchess’ Call Anyone, listed at the top of this section. I still wanted to include this mod in the list in case you’re having trouble with one of these specific bugs or annoyances, but as with many of Pescado’s mods, I find it broader-reaching than necessary which lowered it’s priority in my list.

Phone Mods (Simler90) - *I included this collection of mods above under ‘Highly Recommended Mods’, ‘Fixes - Bugs - Essential’, but I wanted to include it here too given the other phone and calling-related mods in this section. Obviously, you only need to download them once.

    • I consider four of the mods in this collection to be ESSENTIAL BUG FIXES:

      • “PhoneCellHotelRoomServiceFix”; “PhoneCommunityBusinessLotFix”; “PhoneRandomCallsFix”; and “PhoneTeenRunningFix”.

    • The remaining two mods in this collection are more optional, but still HELPFUL FIXES for your game:

      • “PhoneEmergencyRunMod” makes Sims run to the phone if there is an active fire or burglar on the lot and the player initiates the Call > Service > Emergency interaction.

      • “PhoneNeighbourInviteOverRelMod” makes the game check an invited Sim’s attraction scores (not only relationship scores) to determine whether they accept the invitation.

Playable and Improved Nannies (Lazy Duchess) - Overhauls the Nanny Service by rewriting its autonomy and by turning it into a 3-level Teen/Elder career you can find through normal job finding. Sims employed in this career will be the Nannies you can hire from other families from your phone’s Services menu. The rewritten autonomy allows Nannies to: potty train Toddlers; be smarter with bottles; be smarter about leaving once an Adult Sim returns home; and better track your Sim’s schedule to account for job changes (e.g. promotions). To help ensure Nannies cook decent meals for Children, generated Teens will have randomized Cooking skill level (and it is recommended your playable Sims have a Cooking level 3+). A version is included for if you want your playable Sim’s job level in the Nanny career to be labelled. Use only one version.

Random Apartment Residents (Cyjon) - Chooses Apartment neighbours randomly instead of the unmodded game’s "pick the first one on the list" method.

Realistic Social Worker Hack (JM Pescado & Doctor Boris) - Changes what will summon the Social Worker to be a bit more reasonable:
    - Makes it so Children can be left unattended for a short period of time (but not Toddlers);
    - Allows parents to go to work even if Children are present on the lot, so they don’t have to miss work if the Nanny is late;
    - Makes Butlers recognizable as valid Nannies;
    - Adds a check so that the Social Worker will not be summoned for a Child receiving bad grades unless the number of ‘bad’ Children outnumbers the number of passing Children, which will prevent losing all of your Children because of a recent adoptee; and
    - Stops hot/cold failure warnings from instantly calling the Social Worker; but
    - Still summons the Social Worker for Children who are starving or neglected, so you can still get them taken away if you want to, such as to fill the adoption pool.

Restaurant/Bar/Coffeebar Fixes (JM Pescado & Doctor Boris) - Reduces Sims from obsessing with eating at restaurants and drinking coffee until bladder failure, plus reduces conflicts in restaurant host seating assignments so command queues are less likely to be cancelled.

Simply Leftovers (MogHughson) - Changes the “Put Away Leftovers” action so you can choose whether to store group meals “As Group Meal” (how it regularly works in the game) or “As Single Plates” (as individual meals, so Sims no longer have to take out the serving tray every time).

Toddler Potty Fixes (TwoJeffs) - Makes it so Toddlers will not quit using the potty to skip to the next task in their queue, the delay between potty training finishing and the trainer’s cheers is reduced, Adults can potty train Toddlers on a dirty potty (although it will lower the room’s Environment score), and Maids can empty the Toddler potty.

  • Fewer Hobby Wants (SnorkackSearcher) - Reduces the amount of Hobby-related Wants that a Sim can roll. It will not remove any Wants from your game, just prevent certain ones from being rolled. Which Wants are restricted depends on which version you use. Use only one version:

    • “Personality Restrictions Only” makes it so that certain Hobby-related Wants will be restricted for Sims with certain personality point ranges:

      • For the Arts & Crafts Hobby, the “Get Picture Taken” Want will only be rolled by Sims who are Outgoing;

      • For the Film & Literature Hobby, the “Write Novel” Want will only be rolled by Sims who are Serious;

      • For the Nature Hobby, the “Go Hiking” Want will only be rolled by Sims who are Active, the “Birdwatch” Want will only be rolled by Sims who are Shy, and the “Catch Butterflies” and “Catch Fireflies” Wants will only be rolled by Sims who are Playful.

    • “No Blog about Hobby Wants & Personality Restrictions” stops Sims from rolling the Want to “Blog about (Hobby)” (but leaves the “Talk about Hobby” Want roll-able), plus adds the personality restrictions listed above for the “Personality Restrictions Only” version;

    • “No Talk or Blog about Hobby Wants” stops Sims from rolling the Wants to “Talk about Hobby” and “Blog about (Hobby)”, with no other restrictions;

    • “No Talk or Blog about Hobby Wants & Personality Restrictions” stops Sims from rolling the Wants to “Talk about Hobby” and “Blog about (Hobby)”, plus adds the personality restrictions listed above for the “Personality Restrictions Only” version; and

    • “No Talk or Blog about Hobby Wants & Fewer Nature Wants” stops Sims from rolling the Wants to “Talk about Hobby”, “Blog about (Hobby)”, “Catch Butterflies”, “Catch Fireflies”, and “Birdwatch” to help counteract how many Hobby-related Wants Sims with high Nature Enthusiasm seem to get.

Note: This mod requires a special installation: start by backing up your WantTrees.package and then replacing it in your installation folder (not your usual Downloads folder). If you have the Ultimate Collection, you’ll want a version marked “M&G”, and the file path will be something like C:/Program Files (x86)/Electronic Arts/The Sims 2 Ultimate Collection/Fun with Pets/SP9/TSData/Res/Wants.

Gender Pref Allow Wants Fix (Midge the Tree) - Allows Sims to roll romance-related Wants for Sims of any gender that they have a positive gender preference (of 1+) for. This means you’ll no longer end up with a bisexual Sim in a same-sex relationship who never rolls romance-related Wants for their partner just because their gender preference for the opposite sex is slightly higher than their same-sex preference.
Note: This mod may also take a little bit longer for Sims to start rolling romance-related Wants, since an unmodded game only requires a 1+ preference for same-sex romance Wants but allows a 0+ preference for opposite-sex romance Wants. I don’t think this difference will be that noticeable, but wanted to mention it in case you do notice it.

Have Baby/Adopt Child Wants Fix (TwoJeffs) - Stops the game from differentiating between ‘having’ and ‘adopting’ a child, so having a biological Baby will satisfy the ‘Adopt a Child’ Want, and adopting a Baby, Toddler or Child will satisfy the ‘Have a Baby’ Want.
Note: If you plan to use a mod where same sex couples can get pregnant such as TwoJeffs’ Pregnancy for All Genders, you can use TwoJeffs’ Have Child Not Adopt mod that makes same-sex couples always roll the ‘Have a Baby’ Want instead of ever rolling the ‘Adopt a Child’ Want. All three mods can be used together.

Makeout Want Fix (Cyjon) - Makes it so Wants to Make Out are satisfied at the beginning of the ‘Make Out’ interaction rather than at the end, just like Wants to Kiss are. This prevents a situation where you have both a Want to Kiss and Want to Make Out, but only get points for the Want to Kiss because the other Wants re-roll and the Want to Make Out is lost before its points are counted.

    Lifetime Wants (LTWs):

    • Fragile PermaPlat (Cyjon) - Allows fulfilling major Fears to break permanent Platinum (PermaPlat) Aspiration status. This means Sims who fulfill their Lifetime Wish have a chance to lose their full Platinum Aspiration meter if a -5,000 point Fear such as ‘death of a loved one’ comes true.
Notes: This mod requires Cyjon’s Peace of Mind Fix, listed above under ‘Highly Recommended Mods’, ‘Fixes - Bugs - Essential’, AND either LTA Platinum Fix or Slower LTA Gain, listed below.

    • Free Time LTW Fixes (Cyjon) - Changes some of the Aspiration categories for the career-related LTWs from the Free Time expansion, so: Knowledge and Family Sims can roll the LTW to reach the top of the Architecture career; Popularity and Romance Sims can roll the LTW to reach the top of the Dance career; and Popularity and Fortune Sims can roll the LTW to reach the top of the Entertainment career. It does not change the Aspiration categories for reaching the top of the Intelligence and Oceanography careers; those will stay as LTWs for Knowledge and Fortune Sims.
Note: This mod conflicts with Pescado & Boris’ Greater LTW Variety & Sanity, below, so use only one.

    • Greater LTW Variety & Sanity (JM Pescado & Doctor Boris) - Allows Sims to roll career-related LTWs outside of their typical Aspiration categories based on their Interests, personality points, and/or family influence. Also removes LTWs related to having many children/grandchildren in Neighbourhoods you’ve been playing for a long time, to help prevent them from reaching unsustainable populations / amounts of population-related data.
Notes: This mod conflicts with Cyjon’s Free Time LTW Fixes, above, so use only one.
While I like the idea of career-related LTWs being less restricted to certain Aspiration categories, I don’t plan to play with this mod because I can’t find details on how it does so, and am not particularly worried about my population/-related data.

    • LTA Platinum Fix (Cyjon) - Causes the Aspiration bar to fill immediately when earning PermaPlat status for a full LTA bar. You only need this mod if you are using Cyjon’s Fragile PermaPlat, above, without also using Slower LTA Gain, below.

    • Slower LTA Gain (Cyjon) - Significantly slows and balances the gain of hourly Lifetime Aspiration (LTA) points, making it almost impossible to max out LTA before part-way through the Adult life stage. Hourly LTA points will scale with age duration, so this mod will work even if you use mods to adjust the length of life stages. LTA points for events such as learning to walk or reaching the top of a career remain unchanged.
Note: This mod includes and replaces LTA Platinum Fix (Cyjon), above, so you don’t need both.

    • Wealth LTWs (Cyjon) - Allows Sims with the Fortune Aspiration to roll the Lifetime Wants to reach the top of the Journalism (Media Magnate), Music (Rock God), or Show Business (Icon) careers, since these have some of the highest salaries in the game.

Remove Specific Wants (usable together unless otherwise noted):

WF Sanity (JM Pescado & Doctor Boris) - Adds checks for and makes changes to several Wants, including: (1) Removes Wants to play with Sims who aren’t there; (2) Wants to survive death will only appear for Knowledge Sims with low Aspiration; (3) Supernatural Sims will no longer want to cure others of the same type; (4) Decreases Wants to flirt with Sims who they’re not attracted to or where it would be inappropriate; (5) Only Sims who are cheating will get Fears of being caught cheating; (6) Implausible events with no history are less likely to be Fears, e.g. Fear of death of non-Elders if a Sim has no memories of unnatural deaths, or Fear of becoming enemies with a best friend if a Sim has no memories of best friend loss; (7) No Wants about Pets who are inaccessible; (8) Removes Wants to skate unless they’re on a lot with a rink; (9) Only Children and Sims who are Playful and not Neat will Want to balloon or snowball fight; (10) Stops very mean Sims (very low Friendly personality points) from having Wants to give gifts; and (11) Sims will only Want to do snow activities if snow is present.
Note: This mod will likely conflict with any other mod interacting with Wants listed, and possibly other mods affecting Wants. Unfortunately many mods by JM Pescado & Doctor Boris make changes not detailed in their readme files. Sometimes these can be overridden with a correct load order, such as by having Lamare’s Job Options Mod YA-work-wants-fears-Better, listed below under ‘More Optional Mods’, ‘Careers’ load after WF Sanity.

  • Better PlantSim Drinks (Cyjon) - Allows PlantSims to get more water when getting a drink from the tap.

Cyjon’s Bigfoot Skill Tuning - Updates jfade’s No more Perfect Bigfoot(s)! mod so it is compatible with the FreeTime expansion and later packs. Changes Bigfoot creation so they will only be given a level 10 Body Skill (rather than level 10 in all Skills) and gold Talent Badges in fishing and gardening (rather than all of them).

Less Howling (Cyjon) - Reduces how often Werewolves will howl autonomously, by making them only howl when they are lonely and not howl if someone in the room is sleeping unless they have a very Grouchy personality.

Less Servo Sleeping (Cyjon) - Makes Servos far less likely to sleep after WooHoo by drastically lowering their sleep threshold.

No Neutral Spell Alignment Shift (Cyjon) - Stops neutral spells such as “Cleanius Corpus” and “Creatum Nutrimens” from causing alignment shifts for the Witch who cast them.

No ‘Plants Love Me’ (Cyjon) - Prevents PlantSims from doing the “Plants Love Me” behaviour.

No Robot Sneezing (Cyjon) - Stops allergies from affecting Servos and other robots, such as hydrobots and munchiebots.
Note: You don’t need this mod if you plan to use TwoJeffs’ No Allergies, listed below under ‘Optional Fix Mods’, ‘Fixes - Behaviour - Optional’.

Plantbaby Changes (Cyjon) - Changes Plantbabies so they are born with only half of the Skills of the parent Sim, their genetic personalities are set correctly, and will have Nature as their predestined One True Hobby.

PlantSim Fix (Cyjon) - Fixes a bug that stops Sims from becoming PlantSims by adding a new token to prevent the relevant counter from resetting if the Sim or player leaves the lot.
Note: This mod has special requirements if you want to uninstall it; you must destroy the relevant tokens first using Cyjon’s Debugger, listed above under ‘Highly Recommended Fix Mods’, ‘Debugging Tools and Mods’.

Supernatural Body Temp Adjustments (Midge the Tree) - Expands the protections against overheating and freezing that supernatural Sims enjoy so that hybrids, Witches, Genies, and Midge the Tree’s custom supernaturals (Mermaids, Fairies and playable Ghosts) are included.
Note: I haven’t tested this mod’s compatibility with JM Pescado’s Warmth Fixes, listed above under ‘Highly Recommended Fix Mods’, ’Fixes - Bugs - Essentials’, but it seems likely that this one should load after Pescado’s.

Werewolf Personality (Cyjon) - Limits changes to a Werewolf Sim’s personality so changes only occur through the first 20 transformations and transformations only count when a Werewolf is playable. This means they’ll experience no more than +5 to Playful, Active and Outgoing, and no more than -5 to Neat and Nice.
Note: This mod has special requirements if you want to uninstall it; you must destroy the relevant tokens first using Cyjon’s Debugger, listed above under ‘Highly Recommended Fix Mods’, ‘Debugging Tools and Mods’ .

Zombie Personality (Cyjon) - Makes Zombies’ personalities based on their original Sim personalities rather than changing them to an identical default, by removing 4 points from each characteristic. Works for Zombies created by the Resurrect-O-Nomitron, Genie Lamp, and Witch spells.

    —————

    Also listed in other sections:

Coffins for Vampires (Cyjon) - Stops non-Vampire Sims from autonomously sleeping in coffins. (They can still be directed to.)
Listed above under ‘Fixes - Objects - Helpful’.

Genie Delivery Fix (TwoJeffs) - Fixes a bug where the Matchmaker cannot perform any of her duties after delivering a Genie lamp to any family. (Note: Matchmakers ‘broken’ before this fix is installed will need to deliver another lamp before they’ll be ‘fixed’.)
Listed above under ‘Fixes - Bugs - Helpful’.

Genie Wish Fixes (Cyjon) - listed above under ‘Highly Recommended Fix Mods’, ‘Fixes - Bugs - Essentials’ .

    • Beauty Wish Sanity - Adds checks so that Sims who visit after a wish for beauty will: be playables, Townies, Downtownies, or Social Group Sims and not Vacation locals; have an appropriate gender preference; and not be vampires during daylight hours.

      • Note: Do NOT add this mod to a game with an active beauty wish, and do not move a beautiful Sim off the property during the 4-day duration of the wish.

    • Peace of Mind Fix - Stops the Genie wish for Peace of Mind from also giving credit for maximizing a business.

Cyjon’s Want Changes - listed above under ‘Fixes - Wants and LTW’

    • “-Baby “ - prevents Have/Adopt Baby Wants for Zombies, Bigfoot and Servos from rolling Wants to Have or Adopt a Baby.

    • “-Servo” - Stops Servos from rolling Wants that will cause them to self-destruct, such as using a hottub.

Love Potion Restock Fix (Ancient Highway) - Love Potions will no longer be incorrectly restocked as Nice Potions. (Note: This fix is included in and replaced by Simler90’s Business Mod.)
Listed above as part of the ALFixes ALfixes Replacement Project, under ‘Highly Recommended Fix Mods’, ‘Fixes - Bugs - Essential’ section.

Autonomous Actions and Behaviours

I’ve separated these out into their own sub-section because there are a lot of them. The ones under ‘helpful’ generally feel more like tweaks to me or are to fix annoying or nonsensical behaviour, while those under ‘optional’ feel like bigger changes or focus on actions/behaviours that don’t bother me, so I consider them slightly lower priority.

  • Fewer Dirty Jokes (Cyjon) - Allows only Sims with high Playful or Outgoing personality points to autonomously tell dirty jokes. (Player-directed commands will not be affected.)

Fewer Drunks (Cyjon) - Changes motive checks so Sims won’t find bars as attractive and are more likely to use food and entertainment to satisfy their Hunger and Fun Needs. Also restricts drinking straight from the bottle to Sims who are in red Aspiration.

Fewer Peekaboo Pests (Cyjon) - Stops Sims from autonomously trying to play peekaboo with Toddlers if the Toddler is already doing something, or if their relationship with the Toddler is below STR/LTR 25/15 for family members or 35/25 for visitors.

Fewer Soccer Pests (Cyjon) - Stops Sims from autonomously trying to pull other Sims into soccer games if the target Sim has a command queued.

Hot Spring Fix (TwoJeffs) - Stops Sims who are not in a Hot Spring from obsessively trying to interact with Sims who are in the Hot Spring, except to join them.

Just Leave Already (Cyjon) - Stops guests from pestering to say goodbye due to changes introduced by the Apartment Life expansion pack.

Less Bed Making (Cyjon) - Stops Sims from autonomously making beds unless they are in the same room as an unmade bed.

Less Caffeine (Cyjon) - Stops Sims from autonomously drinking coffee, espresso or hot cocoa if it is within 8 hours of their wake time, unless there are no free beds. Wake time is determined by Pescado’s Sleep Clock (if one is found) or defaults to 6am, meaning your average Sim with a 6am wakeup time will not drink caffeinated beverages after 10pm. Also prevents Servos from ever drinking these. Will not work for custom coffee makers, tea sets, or any other energy-boosting drinks.

Less Leaf Play (Cyjon) - Adds restrictions to autonomously doing the ‘Play in Leaves’ interaction so Sims must: pass a Fun check (stops them from constantly playing in leaves even if their Fun Need is already maxed out); have 8 or fewer Neat personality points; and be in the same room as the leaves (generally this will mean outside, but will also apply to leaves moved inside with the moveobjects cheat). (Player-directed commands will not be affected.)

Less Primping (Cyjon) - Stops Sims from autonomously doing the ‘Primp’ action if they have high Hygiene (since it doesn’t help), low Hygiene (since they should be showering), or are Vampires (since it hurts them).

Less Read to Sleep (Cyjon) - Stops Sims from being able to read Teens to sleep, and restricts the ‘Read To Sleep’ interaction to relatives and friends.

Less Relaxing (Cyjon) - Stops Sims from autonomously relaxing in bed unless their Energy Need is above 40%. (Player-directed commands will not be affected.)

Less Trash Duty (Cyjon) - Stops Sims from autonomously taking out the trash unless the bin is at least half full, unless they are on an owned business lot (from Open For Business) where the threshold is lower so Sims can ‘take out trash’ before customers complain.

Less Visitor Skilling (Cyjon) - Makes Sims who are visiting use the fun check rather than the skill check when using fun skilling activities, so they will autonomously quit sooner rather than waiting until they’re near motive failure. Also makes visiting Vampires automatically quit skilling objects when the sun comes up. (Playable Sims will not be affected.)

Less Watering (Cyjon) - Stops Sims who are visiting from watering plants, and stops any Sim from watering if doing so will cause overwatering. Affects both autonomous and user-directed actions.

No Auto Dance Kiss (Cyjon) - Stops Sims from autonomously doing the lengthy ‘Dance Kiss’ interaction. (Player-directed commands will not be affected.)

No Butler NPC Harassment (Cyjon) - Stops Butlers from dismissing NPCs who have been invited over socially.

No Chair Shooing (Cyjon) - Lowers the priority of the ‘move’ command directed at Sims blocking chairs from being scooted out. Makes the ‘move’ command clear autonomous actions, but not affect user-directed commands. Helpful for getting Sims to “wait for food” successfully.

No Home Buskers (Cyjon) - Stops Sims from autonomously placing tip jars when they ‘Perform’ with an instrument on a residential lot.
Note: This mod is compatible with Tipping Fix (JM Pescado & Doctor Boris), listed above under ‘Helpful Fix Mods’, ‘Fixes - Behaviour - Helpful’, as well as Practice Perform Changes (Cyjon), listed below.

No Pet Obsession (TwoJeffs) - Lowers the ‘Fun Need’ advertising of interactions between Sims toward Pets (not the other way around), moderately for the Pet’s family members on Residential Lots and significantly for all Sims on Community Lots. Stops non-family member Sims from autonomously interacting with Pets on Residential Lots completely. Stops all Sims from autonomously doing the ‘Toss in Air’ interaction. Also reduces the amount of Pet-related Wants; Sims will only roll Wants related to Pets who are in their family or who are friends, and makes the chance that they will roll pet-related Wants dependent on the Sim’s Interest in Animals (so Sims with low interest in Animals will rarely roll a pet-related Want). Sims can still roll the ‘Be Chased by Pet’ Fear, but only if the Pet is not a family member or not a friend.

No Visitor Dance Bar (Cyjon) - Stops visiting Sims from using the buyable and Dance career reward dance bars. Playable Sims will still be allowed to use them, since it’s one of the few skill-building actions they’ll do autonomously.
Note: You will not need this mod if you plan to use Cyjon’s Visitors Behave, listed below, since it includes the same function.

Pool Ladder Autonomy (Cyjon) - Allows Sims to autonomously use pool ladders to get into pools, so you don’t always need to have a diving board.

Practice Perform Changes (Cyjon) - Makes Sims a bit smarter about deciding whether to autonomously ‘Practice’ or ‘Perform’ with their musical instruments. In order of priority: Sims will join the band and ‘Perform’ if another Sim is already performing; Sims who need Creativity skill points for work will ‘Practice’; Sims with a maxed out Creativity skill will ‘Perform’; and Sims can otherwise choose to either ‘Practice’ or ‘Perform’. Has the added benefit that Sims will ‘Perform’ longer before quitting on owned business (Open For Business) lots.
Note: This mod is compatible with No Home Buskers (Cyjon), listed above.

Reduced Playing in Bathtub (TwoJeffs) - Restricts the ‘play in bathtub’ interactions to Sims who are very bored (low Fun Need) or very Playful (high personality points). Alternatively, there is a version that will stop the interaction altogether. Use only one version.
*Note this mod was already included above under ‘Helpful Fix Mods’, ‘Fixes - Behaviour - Helpful’.

Smarter Food Serving (Cyjon) - Stops Sims who are serving food from putting out individual plates for: Sims at work or otherwise off the property; Sims who are sleeping; Babies; Toddlers not in high chairs; NPCs on the job; ungreeted guests/visitors; Ghosts; Servos and other robots; PlantSims; or the penguin. Also has a few other features, such as that Servos, PlantSims and NPCs on the job (e.g. Butlers and Nannies) will not reserve one serving from themselves. (Served meals will still have the normal 6 servings.)
Note: There is a known issue where food which already exists (has started being cooked or eaten, or has been served) when this mod is added to the game may no longer be usable at all; the food will need to be deleted and cooking Sims/NPCs may need to be reset. All meals made after the mod is installed will behave normally.

Visitors Behave (Cyjon) - Stops Sims who are visiting Residential Lots from using violins, DJ booths, computers, cauldrons, spell books, dance bars (buyable and Dance career reward), and tents (although they can still be asked into a tent). Visitors will also no longer be able to greet other visitors or start to fish (but they can still join Sims already fishing). These restrictions will not apply to NPCs on the job, nor to any Sims on Community Lots. This mod also includes a bug fix for BFF distance greets, and will reduce the amount that resident (e.g. playable) Sims will start and stop using the dance bar, blogging, and surfing the web.
Note: This mod includes and therefore can replace Cyjon’s No Visitor Dance Bar, listed above.

  • Auto Serve Espresso (Cyjon) - Changes the default autonomous interaction with the espresso machine from ‘Make’ to ‘Serve’.

Autonomous Bath Fixes (TwoJeffs) - Stops Sims from autonomously bathing in a tub if there is a shower available on the lot, unless the Sim is either pregnant or their Comfort Need is below 50%.

Autonomous Computer Fixes (TwoJeffs) - Makes several changes related to autonomous behaviours and actions related to computers:
    Improves the in-use check for computers and related chairs;
    Stops Sims from whining if they try to use a computer but its chair becomes occupied (they will quietly go do something else);
    Stops Sims who are visiting a Residential Lot from doing any of the computer interactions introduced by the Free Time expansion (such as ‘Blog About (Hobby)’);
    Stops Sims from autonomously turning off computers;
Stops Sims from autonomously socializing with Sims who are using a computer; and
Sims giving ‘Financial Advice’ who have the interaction cancelled will receive partial credit and pay for the amount of time they spent consulting, instead of receiving nothing.
The “- No Autonomy” version will also stop Sims from autonomously using the computer to chat, play games, join gaming competitions, surf the web, blog, and check e-mail. Use only one version.
Note: This mod includes the features of Cyjon’s No Auto Turn Off Computer, listed below in this section, and Partial Financial Advice, listed below under ‘More Optional Mods’. If you are using this mod, you should not use those ones.

Don’t Walk Away While Cooking (Squinge) - Stops Sims from walking away from any stove, oven or grill while they are cooking.

Get Off Your Ass! (Cyjon) - Makes Sims much less likely to just sit around doing nothing by restricting the “Sit” and “Relax” interactions with chairs, couches, sectionals, recliners, beds and hammocks so that they will only be done autonomously by Sims who are sick, in their first trimester of pregnancy, or if Comfort is their lowest Need motive.
Note: There is a known issue with this mod where it makes Sims who have a plate of food and are looking for a place to sit will not consider sectionals a valid seat on a Residential Lot. Not an issue for served food, at Community Lot restaurants, nor with other kinds of chairs.

Handheld & MP3 No Autonomy (TwoJeffs) - Stops Sims from autonomously using their handheld games and MP3 players.

Less or No Congratulations (TwoJeffs) - Lessens or completely stops Sims from autonomously congratulating other Sims, depending on which version you install. Use only one version.

Less Napping (Cyjon) or No Auto Napping (TwoJeffs) - Stops Sims from autonomously napping unless their energy is critically low, or completely stops Sims from napping on couches, recliners, etc. (Player-directed commands will not be affected.) Use only one of these mods.

Less or No Teasing (TwoJeffs) - Lessens or completely stops Sims from autonomously teasing other Sims, depending on which version you install. Use only one version.

No Auto Beach Activities (TwoJeffs) - Stops Sims from autonomously doing several beach-related interactions: ‘Build Sandcastle’, ‘Sunbathe’, ‘Dig for Treasure’, and ‘Comb for Seashells’.

No Auto Diary (TwoJeffs) - Stops Sims from autonomously doing the ‘Write in Diary’ interaction.

No Auto Exercise Bike (Cyjon) - Stops Sims from autonomously using the Exerto Super Exercise Bike. (Player-directed commands will not be affected.)

No Auto Finger Wiggle (Cyjon) - Stops Sims from autonomously playing the finger-wiggle game with Cats, and stops Cats from asking to play it and asking to get thrown in the air. (Player-directed commands will not be affected.)
Note: Complements and is compatible with TwoJeffs’ No Pet Obsession, listed above under ‘Helpful Mods to Reduce Autonomous Actions and Behaviours’.

No Auto Hang Out (TwoJeffs) - Stops Sims from autonomously doing the ‘Talk > Hang Out’ interaction.

No Auto Jump on Bed (TwoJeffs) - Stops Sims from autonomously jumping on the bed.

No Auto Jump on Couch (Cyjon) - Stops Sims from autonomously jumping on the couch.

No Auto Music Cheering (Inge a.k.a. Simlogical) - Stops Sims from autonomously watching Sims playing (Maxis original) musical instruments on Residential Lots, and from cheering or jeering as they walk by. (Player-directed commands will not be affected.)

No Auto Noogies (TwoJeffs) - Stops Sims from autonomously giving another Sim a ‘Noogie’, but adds it as a selectable interaction under ‘Irritate’.

No Auto Pillow Fights (Cyjon) - Stops Sims from autonomously starting pillow fights. (Player-directed commands will not be affected.)

No Auto Read to Me (Cyjon) - Stops Children from autonomously asking to be read to, since they tend to pester their parents otherwise. (Player-directed commands will not be affected.)

No Auto Smash House (Inge a.k.a. Simlogical) - Stops Sims from autonomously kicking dollhouses.

No Auto Smell Flowers (TwoJeffs) - Stops Sims from autonomously doing the ‘stop to smell the flowers’ interaction.

No Auto Snowmen (Cyjon) - Stops Sims from autonomously building a snowman.

No Auto Talk Through (Cyjon) - Stops Sims from autonomously using the ‘Talk Through’ interaction with stuffed animals (not only the teddy bear).

No Auto Turn Off Computer (Cyjon) - Stops Sims from autonomously turning off computers. (Player-directed commands will not be affected.)
Note: The function of this mod is included in TwoJeffs’ Autonomous Computer Fixes, listed above. You should not use both.

No Auto Turn Off TV (Cyjon) - Stops Sims from autonomously turning off televisions (which they’ll sometimes do even if another Sim is still watching it).

No Auto View Art (Cyjon) - Stops Sims from autonomously viewing art objects including paintings, sculptures, deeds, Sim-painted canvases, and Sim-drawn schematics.

No Bogarting OFB Toys (TwoJeffs) - Stops Teens, Adults and Elders from autonomously playing with the craftable toys from the Open for Business expansion pack.

No Coffee Juggling (Cyjon) - Stops Sims from autonomously juggling coffee or espresso cups.

No Refrigerator Play (Cyjon) - Stops Sims from swinging on refrigerator doors.

No Shoving from Looking Through Telescope (TwoJeffs) - Stops your Sim’s neighbour from showing up to angrily shove them if they are using a telescope during the day.

No Visitor Chores (Cyjon) - Stops Sims who are visiting a Residential Lot from autonomously doing chores including cleaning pet beds and pet dishes, mopping puddles, filling holes, raking leaves, pulling weeds and trimming bushes. You can still make your Sims use Influence points to influence their visitors to clean.
Note: Does not prevent visitors from watering plants, but is compatible with Cyjon’s mod that does: Less Watering, listed above under Helpful Mods to Reduce Autonomous Actions and Behaviours.

Play Sanity Fixes (TwoJeffs) - Adds restrictions for autonomously doing several play-related interactions:
    Sims will only ‘Play > Toss Football’, ‘Catch’, ‘Snowball Fight’, or ‘Water Balloon Fight’ if they are not indoors, it is not winter, and if a Child or Teen initiates the interaction;
    Sims will only ‘Play > Kickybag’ if they are outdoors and some distance from the pedestrian portal (for entering and exiting the lot);
    Sims will only ‘Play > Splash in Puddle’ if they are deviant Children;
Sims will only ‘Jump Rope’ if they are not Lazy (little to no Active personality points), they are not indoors, it is not winter, and their Body skill is not maxed out, plus if they are an Adult, they also must have Fitness or Sports as their One True Hobby and less than 900 Enthusiasm in it.
Note: This mod incorporates and replaces TwoJeffs’ No Indoors Kickybag, listed below under ‘Optional Fix Mods’, ‘Fixes - Behaviour - Optional’, so you will not need that mod if you’re using this one.

Social Sanity Fixes (TwoJeffs) - Makes it so that Sims will only autonomously attempt the following social interactions if they are reasonably sure it will be successful: Appreciate > Admire; Entertain > Dirty Joke; Hug > Friendly Hug; and will only attempt to autonomously play ‘Punch You, Punch Me’ if they have 4 or fewer Nice personality points.

Sponge Bath Fix (Cyjon) - Stop Sims from autonomously taking sponge baths unless there are no bathtubs nor showers on the property. (Player-directed commands will not be affected.)

Toddlers Play with Toilets Fix (TwoJeffs) - Makes Toddlers only play with toilets if they are in a bad mood or in Aspiration failure, which seems to be how the game originally intended the interaction to work.

    Toilet Flushing and Hand Washing:

    • Always Flush - Wash Hands Hacks (TwoJeffs) -Makes Sims always flush the toilet after using it. The two versions marked “Wash Hands” will also make Sims with 3+ Neat personality points wash their hands autonomously after using the toilet only if their next queued interaction is not with a sink, bathtub or shower. The two versions marked “NP” also include ‘no privacy’ for toilet use only. Use only one version.

    • Flush Puke (Cyjon) - Makes Sims who throw up for any reason will flush the toilet afterwards.

    • No Auto Hand Washing (Cyjon) - Stops autonomous washing of hands, since it has a negligible effect on Hygiene.
Note: This mod is compatible with TwoJeffs’ Always Flush - Wash Hands Hacks, above.

Optional Fix Mods

These mods are still “fixes”, but are more for reducing annoyances or making minor gameplay changes than to fix things are are indisputable issues. You’re likely to find many helpful mods here, but feel free to browse through them or experiment with them at your own pace.

  • Debug Abduct Fix (Doctor Boris) - Fixes a Memory generation bug for debug mode-forced abductions.

Eggplant Juice Memory Fix (Doctor Boris) - Stops “memory spam” created by eggplant juice.
(If your Sim drinks eggplant juice made with the juicer from the Seasons expansion pack, they get a a random Skill point — I haven’t played much with the juicer, but I assume based on this mod’s existence, that it generates a memory every time your Sim drinks it.)

Grim Multi-Reaping Fix (Cyjon) - Fixes an obscure and non-critical bug with the Grim Reaper where if two or more Sims die simultaneously and after Grim reaps the first, any Sim on the lot has low Aspiration, Grim will throw an error and disappear before being re-summoned to finish his work. In other words, it requires a specific circumstance and even if it does occur, you’ll likely only notice if you’re playing in debug mode and have to click the reset button.

No Suck Face Pedos (Cyjon) - Fixes a bug which allows the ‘Kiss > Suck Face’ interaction to appear as a menu option for Children and Toddlers (luckily nothing will happen if you try to select it). I’ve included this as a Niche fix because it is likely caused by a bug in some other mod. You’ll only need this fix if you notice the ‘Suck Face’ interaction in a menu where it shouldn’t be, and want to get rid of it.

Photo/Changing Booth Preg Fix (Midge the Tree) - Prevents Sims from impregnating themselves when woohooing another Sim in a photo booth or changing booth when you are using a mod that allows Sims of any Sim to get pregnant by any Sim regardless of sex, such as TwoJeffs’ Pregnancy for All Genders.
Note: You will not need this fix if you plan to use Midge the Tree’s Risky Woohoo plugin (which can be used independently or as an add-on for the Reproductive Capabilities Configurer (RCC) V2), since this fix is included in that plugin.

Seated Aging Fix (Cyjon) - Allows the Grim Reaper to interrupt your Sim so they can die of old age even if they’re sitting or lying down. In an unmodded game, the Grim Reaper won’t come to kill a Sim until they stand up, meaning Elder Sims can theoretically live forever if they stay in a chair.

  • Adult-Elder Tent Woohoo Fix (Midge the Tree) - Allows Adults and Elders to ‘Woohoo’ with each other in tents, if the social/other requirements are met.

Aspiration by Use (Cyjon) - Makes Aspiration Reward objects are free to buy and instead drain Aspiration when a Sim uses them. Which objects are affected are listed in the full description on Cyjon’s website. This mod also makes Sims bring Smart Milk bottles to toddlers rather than trying to bring toddlers to the milk machine; this makes it incompatible with mods for that specific annoyance, including JM Pescado’s and TwoJeffs’ No Smart Milk Drag mods. (Objects already placed before this mod is installed will still work as before until the object’s charges are drained. Once they are empty, the mod will automatically convert the object to drain Aspiration with each use instead.)
Note: You’ll need to use the compatible version of Cyjon’s Safe Hats mod (CJ-SafeHats-ABU.zip) if using it alongside Aspiration by Use.

Better Lightning Rods (Cyjon) - Improves the effectiveness of lightning rods so the first will give a 50% chance to be hit by a lightning strike, the second adds 25%, the third adds 12%, and so on with each additional rod adding half the bonus of the one before, to a maximum of 99% protection with 7 rods. (In an unmodded game, the first gives the same 50% chance of protection, but each additional rod gives only a 4% increase to a maximum of 70%.) Also allows other items to act as lightning rods: the Fun for the Roof I, Dragon On The Roof, Aspiring Spire, and Ornery Rooster.
Note: To ensure proper placement, it is recommended that you use Cyjon’s Debugger, listed above under Debugging Tools and Mods.

Better Love Tub (Cyjon) - Makes the Love Tub Aspiration reward object give the same chemistry boost as a love potion, and eliminates the need for a crush or love relationship. You won’t see the chemistry boost reflected in the number of bolts on Sims in the relationship menu, but all actions in the Love Tub will be noticeably easier with this mod.

Better Stereo Workout (Cyjon) - Makes stereo workouts just as effective as TV workouts, for Maxis stereos. Custom stereos will not be affected.

Cloned Booth and Sectional Fixes (Inge a.k.a. Simlogical) - You’ll need these “Is Chair a Booth” fixes if you want to use cloned (e.g. custom content (CC)) dining booths or sectional sofas.

Dirty Hot Tubs (Cyjon) - Stops hot tubs and hot springs from increasing Sims’ Hygiene Need, except for PlantSims.

Easy Hydroponics (Cyjon) - Stops plants in the AquaGreen Hydroponic Garden Slacker career reward from dying from neglect.

Education Bookcase Fix (Cyjon) - Helps Sims study longer the additional skills (Creativity, etc.) available from the Books First for Learning: A Bookshelf of Education career reward object.
Note: There is a known issue with this mod where any Sim who is studying from any book (regardless of which bookcase it came from) at the time this mod is added, will throw an error. If you don’t play in debug mode, the Sim will jump out of the action and you’ll have to command them to restart. If you do use debug mode, just click ‘Reset’. This will happen the first time you load that lot after installing this mod.

Lockable Garage Doors (Cyjon) - Updates doors’ lock menus so the current lock option is grayed out, if it is locked to only allow one Sim that Sim’s name will be displayed, and adds a new “Garage…/” menu that allows garage doors (Maxis and custom) to be locked for pedestrians (cars will be able to come and go as normal). To lock a garage door, you will need to click on a non-garage door and use the new “Garage…/” menu, and your choice will affect all garage doors on the lot (you cannot lock garage doors individually). The new menu will not appear on Apartment Lots, since this mod does not work on Apartment Lots.

No Candy Machine Failure (Cyjon) - Prevents failure when using the Schokolade 890 Chocolate Manufacturing Facility Culinary career reward object so it can be a valuable skill-building object like other career rewards.

No Drip Sinks Patch (Inge a.k.a. Simlogical) - Stops broken sinks from starting to make constant dripping noises, which can often get stuck and continue even after a sink has been fixed. Unfortunately, it may not fix a dripping noise which has already started.

Rat Race Magazine Fix (MogHughson) - Fixes the ‘Rat Race’ magazine that can be bought from magazine racks on Community Lots so that it builds Work Interest like it is supposed to.

Talk in Tent Texture Fix (Gummilutt) - Stops the ‘Talk in Tent’ interaction from calling for a texture change, so it no longer looks like a lamp and odd shadows have appeared inside the tents from Bon Voyage when Sims start talking.

Telescope Mod - Random Neighbours (Simler90) - Changes the ‘Look Through’ interaction for all telescopes (Maxis and custom) so it will no longer build Logic skill nor Science Hobby Enthusiasm, which neighbours your Sim can spy on/peek at will be randomized among the playable and housed Sims within a specific range (so Sims can no longer spy on someone in a completely different sub-hood and will not somehow spy on the Family Bin), allows Teens to be spied on/peeked at, and makes it a 1% chance that the looked-at Sim will appear on your lot to be angry at your Sim when the ‘Look Through’ interaction ends. Also stops other Sims from doing the ‘Share Hobby Tips’ with a Sim doing the ‘Look Through’ interaction.

    • The “- UPDATE 2” version makes Sims more likely to peek at those they find attractive and changes the check for whether the peeked-at Sim will appear on your lot to scold the peeking Sim to use the following formula:
      100 - (Neighbour’s Nice personality points - 500)/10 - (Neighbour’s Attracted STR / 2)
      which produces a percentage chance.
If this check is not passed, the Sim won’t appear. If it is passed, the Sim will have a 15% chance of appearing and an 85% chance they still won’t appear.
      Use only one version.

  • Apartment Undies (Cyjon) - Allows Sims who live in Apartments to wander the common areas in their underwear.

CrumpleFix (JM Pescado) - Stops Mrs. Crumplebottom from cancelling all actions in your Sim’s command queue, and from interrupting showering Sims to yell at them.

Grilled Cheese Love Cooking Channel (Cyjon) - Makes the Yummy Channel the favourite for Sims with the Grilled Cheese Aspiration, regardless of their age.

Less or No Hobby Idle Animations (USE ONLY ONE):

    • Hobby Idle Animation Fix (TwoJeffs) - Stops Sims from constantly doing the idle animations for Hobbies they have less than 3 Enthusiasm points in, plus makes them favour the animations for their One True Hobby, if they have one.

    • No Hobby Animations (Cyjon) - Stops Sims from doing any idle animations for Hobbies, such as dance stretches or rubbing their stomach.

Less Beach Obsession (Cyjon) - Adds the requirement that Sims must be outside to autonomously engage in beach activities; this will apply to any lot with a beach, including if Sims are living or vacationing on the lot.

Less Jealousy (Cyjon) - Changes the rules for jealousy so that: (1) Sims on dates will always become jealous; (2) Threesomes/Thruples will not create jealousy if all the Sims involved are in love, so if Sim A is in love with both Sim B and Sim C and witnesses them have a romantic interaction with each other, they won’t get jealous; and (3) Other than in the previous two situations, Sims will only feel jealousy if they are Going Steady, Engaged, or Married.
Note: This mod will conflict and should be removed if you want to use other mods that affect how jealousy works in romantic relationships, including TwoJeffs’ Autonomous Casual Romance (ACR), JM Pescado’s Romance Mod, and Simler90’s Romantic Standards. (These mods are listed below under ‘More Optional Mods’, ‘Romance, Woohoo and Marriage’.)

Less or No Belching & Farting (TwoJeffs) - Use only one of these mods.

    • Less Belching or Farting stops Sloppy Sims from passing gas if there are any other Sims nearby, but they will still burp and fart if they’re alone in a room.

    • No Belching or Farting stops Sloppy Sims from belching and farting completely.

Memory-Based Diary Writing (Lazy Duchess) - Makes Sims think about their most recent Memories and the Sims involved when they’re writing in their diary, and react according to whether the Memory is positive or negative.

Mood Mod (Simler90) - Makes Sims’ Aspiration Meter affect their mood. The Advanced Version also takes into consideration the Sim’s last 100 Memories. Use only one version.
Notes: The Advanced Version of this mod requires Simler90’s Memory Mod, listed above under ‘Helpful Fix Mods’, ‘Fixes - Bugs - Helpful’.
For details on the specific numbers and how to tune this mod, refer to its page on Mod The Sims.

More Floor Sleeping (Cyjon) - Allows Sims to use the “Sleep On Floor” interaction on any livable lot including Residential, Dorms, Frats, and Apartments.
Note: This mod includes part of - but is compatible with - Cyjon’s Floor Sleep Fix, listed above under ‘Critical Fix Mods’, ‘Other Fixes - Most Important’.

More Fun (Cyjon) - Allows Sims to continue doing fun activities longer by lowering motive thresholds, which prevents them from being considered lower priority than other commands.
Note: If you’ve been playing for a long time and expect Sims to stop having fun on their own to defer to other commands, using this mod may take some getting used to, since they won’t do that anymore.

More Realistic Relationship Decay (Inge a.k.a. Simlogical) - Suspends idle decay for relationships above +95, below -95, and short term relationship (STR) values between +10 and -10, but does not affect how interactions will affect relationships. More details are available in the full description on Simlogical.

More Sloppy Sims (Cyjon) - Raises the threshold of Neat personality points to allow more Sims to salvage from the garbage, eat from the garbage, and eat spoiled food. The default is to only allow these actions for Sims with 0 or 1 Neat points, which none of the default Zodiacs have, so game-generated Sims will never do these actions.

No Allergies (TwoJeffs) - Disables Sims from sneezing due to seasonal allergies in Spring. Does not affect sneezing due to illness.
Note: To only eliminate allergies for Servos and other robots rather than for all Sims, use Cyjon’s No Robot Sneezing, listed above under ‘Helpful Fix Mods’, ‘Fixes - Occults and Servos - Helpful’, instead of this mod.

No Command Reaction (Cyjon) - Stops Sims from reacting (positively or negatively) to your commands, so they’ll no longer waste time with those animations, including the sulky stairs walk.

No Formalwear for Piano or Violin (Cyjon) - Depending on which version you use, stops either Servos or all Sims from changing into their formalwear when they play the piano or violin in The Zone. Use only one version.

No Gossips About Dead (Nopke) - Stops Sims from gossiping or telling secrets about dead Sims, unless the dead Sim was their enemy, or the gossip or secret refers to a Ghost that was seen by an alive Sim.

No Hyperactive Children (Cyjon) - Stops Children from constantly running after they age up; this appears to have been a bug rather than a design choice, occurring when the game doesn’t correctly initialize Children’s movement after aging up.

No Indoors Kickybag (TwoJeffs) - Stops Sims from playing ‘Kicky Bag’ if they are indoors or within two tiles of the pedestrian portals (ends of the sidewalk). Also makes Sims stop playing ‘Kicky Bag’ once their Social Need is full and Fun Need is almost full.

No Outerwear Spin (Cyjon) - Makes Sims change into and out of their outerwear outfit on their way in and out of the house, instead of spinning to change clothes and causing traffic jams in doorways. Does not stop them from spinning when doing other outfit changes.

No Pedos & Stalkers (JM Pescado) - Makes Sims less likely to harass children and strangers, especially if they’re far away from each other on the lot.

No Pet Challenge (Cyjon) - Stops Pets from challenging each other over food bowls.

No Shade Eyes Salute (TwoJeffs) - Eliminates the animation where Sims shade their eyes from the sun when going from inside to outside, which was introduced in the Mansions & Gardens Stuff Pack but does not check if the Sim has something in their hands.

No ‘Smells Yummy’ (Cyjon) - Stops Sims from doing the “Smells Yummy” interaction/animation.

No Table Platters (Cyjon) - Stops Sims from putting serving platters on eating surfaces such as dining tables or counter islands.

No Whining Abut Missing/Stolen Objects (TwoJeffs) - Stops Sims from cancelling their command queue to complain about objects that were stolen or sold. This mod does not stop Sims from whining about the burglar, and they will still lose any Aspiration points gained from satisfying a Want to buy an object if you sell that object within 24 hours.

Random Radio Stations (Hexagonal Bipyramid) - Randomizes which radio station will play when a stereo is turned on for the first time, instead of always playing salsa music.

Sleepwear by Personality (Cyjon) - Randomizes whether Sims decide to wear underwear or sleepwear when going to bed autonomously, with Playful and Outgoing Sims more likely to choose underwear. Makes Elder and pregnant Sims always choose pajamas.

Stuff Your Fat Face (Cyjon) - Makes the “Stuff Face” fridge interaction add fat points regardless of a Sim’s Hunger level.

Visitors Leave (Cyjon) - Makes Sims who are visiting your household quit their interactions when it is time for them to leave and forcefully makes them leave your lot if there are no family members present on the lot, or if the visitor is a Vampire and it is daytime.

Walkbys Behave (Cyjon) - A collection of mods that allow you to decide if/how Sims walking by your property can misbehave.

  • Abductions - Higher Odds (TwoJeffs) - Increases the chance that a stargazing Sim will be abducted by Aliens. Odds will start at nearly zero and continuously increase the longer a Sim stargazes, but will be reset each time a Sim stops and restarts stargazing. Knowledge Sims will have a higher chance of being abducted than Sims with other Aspirations.

Fewer PlantSims (Cyjon) - Heals half of Sims’ insecticide damage each day, reducing the chance they’ll turn into a PlantSim and allowing Sims to maintain a small garden without danger. Also heals all damage when a Sim does change into a PlantSim, which will prevent cured Sims from instantly turning back into a PlantSim the first time they spray for bugs.

New Genie Wishes (Cyjon) - Adds several new wishes your Sim can ask Genies for:

    • Metamorphosis - Cause or cure any paranormal state (Zombie, Vampire, Werewolf, PlantSim, or Witch).

      • Note: Using this wish to make a Sim a Zombie will use Cyjon’s Zombie Personality rather than the unmodded game defaults. Using it to remove Zombie-ism will repair personality damage, but not Skill damage.

    • Personality - Changes one personality characteristic to either the minimum or maximum. Changes both current and genetic personality.

    • -Disease includes two wishes:

      • Immunity - Cures the Sim of all diseases except morning sickness, and makes the Sim immune to any future diseases.

      • Cure the Plague - Cures all diseases except for morning sickness, throughout the Neighbourhood. Also cleans up any contagion on the current lot, but Sims on other lots may become re-infected during the first 30 game minutes of play.

    • Business Success - Applies a steady positive pressure to customer satisfaction, making it easier to get a Business to level 10, however, the wish must be made by the Business Owner and will only work for home businesses.

Note: This mod includes and replaces Cyjon’s Genie Initialization Fix, listed above under ‘Critical Fix Mods’, ‘Bug Fixes - Most Important’.

New Servos (Cyjon) - Changes several aspects of Servo activation: (1) A newly-activated Servo will inherit the genetic personality of the activator so they won’t be affected by personality changes during gameplay (e.g. becoming a Zombie or Werewolf, using the Personalit-O-Nomitron, etc.); (2) Genetic personalities will be set correctly; (3) Servos will not inherit the activator Sim’s Skills, instead they will have level 10 Cooking, Mechanical and Cleaning Skills and no points for all other Skills; and (4) Servos will not get random badges.

No Commercial Recharge (Cyjon) - Stops Servos from recharging on Commercial Lots, making them leave when their batteries are low instead.

No Witch Names (Cyjon) - Removes “The Evil Witch” and similar titles.
Note: You may need to travel to the good castle and evil castle to get NPC Witches’ names to properly reset, if them keeping their titles bothers you.

No Zombie Coworkers (Cyjon) - Stops Sims from bringing Zombies home from work.

Slow Servo Skilling (Cyjon) - Halves the rate at which Servos learn Skills compared to other Sims.
Note: When you first install this mod, all Sims that were saved while learning a Skill will suddenly stop learning, but will continue their actions and the skill bar will be stuck after they stop. You will need to cancel their actions and reissue those commands in order to reset the skill bar.

Vampire Walkbys (Cyjon) - Allows more Sims to walk by your lot at night, rather than just Werewolves. At 10pm, 1am and 4am there will be a chance for Werewolves, Vampires, Servos, high-level Witches, or Zombies to walk by. The chances will increase as the population of these night creatures increases in your neighbourhood.
Note: You should also use Cyjon’s Kid Collection Fix to stop a bug where nighttime walkbys can sometimes invite themselves into your home.

    Witches’ Reagents:

    • Faster Reagents (Cyjon) - Halves the time it takes for Witches to make reagents.

    • Make 5 Reagents (Cyjon) - Makes Witches automatically make reagents in batches of five rather than one at a time.

Zombie Iron Stomach (Cyjon) - Makes Zombies immune to food poisoning caused by eating spoiled food.
Note: If using this mod, you need to use the -Zombie version of Cyjon’s No Spoiled Food, listed above under ’Helpful Fix Mods’, ‘Fixes - Behaviour - Helpful’.

Fixes - Gameplay - Optional

I’ve separated these out into sub-sections because there are several categories within optional gameplay fixes. This section is still focused on ‘correction’ type mods, rather than changes based on how you want to play.

  • No Command Reaction (Cyjon) - Stops Sims from wasting time by reacting (positively or negatively) to user commands, including the longer sulky animation for walking up/down stairs.

No Move Out Reaction (Cyjon) - Stops Sims from running over to wave goodbye in reaction to Sims moving out, including when someone is going to college or graduating, so you don’t lose all the actions in their commend queues.

No Pet Greeting (Cyjon) - Stops Pets from reacting to Sims who enter the lot, such as running to bark at a mailman, so you don’t lose all the actions in their command queues.

No Return Home Animation (Cyjon) - Stops Sims with the Family Aspiration from standing at the curb and spending half an hour announcing that they are home from work.

No Swooning at Romance Sims (TwoJeffs) - Disables the reaction that causes Sims to autonomously swoon at Sims with the Romance Aspiration.

Walk Animation Changes (TwoJeffs) - Use only one of these mods:

    • Lazy Anim Fix Only removes the slouch and slow spin clothes changing routine that Sims do if they have low Active personality points.

    • Young Adult Walk Fix removes the walk style unique to Young Adult Sims so they’ll walk the same as Teens and Adults.

    • Young Adult & Lazy Anim Fix includes both of the above functions.

Walk This Way (Cyjon) - Forces Sims to always walk instead of sometimes run when given the “Go Here” command.

  • Apartment Butlers (Cyjon) - Allows Butlers and Nannies to enter the Apartments of the Sims who hired them.

Better Butler Meals (Cyjon) - Forces Butlers to cook meals which require a Cooking skill of 3 or more, and will only choose to make group meals rather than magically generating multiple servings from single-serve meals. Also prevents Butlers from using mini fridges to cook.
Note: This mod will conflict with Lazy Duchess’ Butler Fix, listed above under ‘Highly Recommended Mods’, ‘Fixes - Bugs - Essentials’, so you’ll need to use the compatible version of that mod and make sure Better Butler Meals loads before it. However, it is compatible with Cyjon’s Butler Fix (listed above under ’Critical Fix Mods’, ‘Bug Fixes - Most Important’) and More Butler Cooking (listed below in this section).

Butler Asks to Fire (Cyjon) - Changes how Butlers will ask about firing other staff. Instead of the game’s system of the Butler asking if he can fire the Maid, Gardener, etc. once and not allowing you to change your mind later, this mod will make the Butler ask if he can fire all other NPC staff each time you hire new staff, unless you tell them not to firs other staff, which will stop that Butler from asking again.
Note: This mod may or may not fix existing Butlers; in theory it shouldn’t, but it seems to for some players. You may need to remove or kill off existing Butlers and allow the game to generate new ones for the mod to apply to them.

Digging is Gardening (Cyjon) - Makes it so that Gardeners will fill holes in the yard instead of Maids. Only needed if you have the Bon Voyage expansion pack, which changed digging from a Gardener duty to a Maids’ task.

Female Maids (Cyjon) - Makes all newly generated Maids female; does not affect existing Maids.

Maids Use Compost (Smonaff) - Requires the Seasons expansion pack (which introduced compost bins). When taking out the trash, makes Maids check to see if there are any compost bins to dispose of it. If there is no compost bin, the route is blocked, or the bin is full, the Maid will dispose of the trash in the large outdoor garbage can instead. Newspapers will still be disposed of in the garbage can, and other Sims will still dispose of trash in the garbage can when directed to.
Should also fix the issue where Maids will sometimes drop trash on the floor and drop it again repeatedly.

More Butler Cooking (Cyjon) - Allows Butlers to consider everyone on the lot’s Hunger levels, not just the residents, when deciding whether to cook.
Note: This mod requires Cyjon’s Butler Fix mod, included above under ‘Critical Fix Mods’, ‘Bug Fixes - Most Important’.

Waiter NPC Outfit Fix (Jawusa) - Fixes the mesh of the waiter NPC outfit for “fat” Sims.

  • Cops Can Fight Burglars (Midge the Tree) - Allows Sims in the Law Enforcement Career or who used to be a Police Officer NPC to fight burglars and regain your stuff. There is also a version called “Pros Can Fight Burglars” which allows Sims employed in the Military, Intelligence, or Criminal Careers to also fight burglars. Use only one version.

Edukashun Iz Gud (Cyjon) - Allows Sims to join any Career regardless of their education/University degree, but limits whether Sims can get promoted / the maximum level they can achieve based on their education. The mod considers high school grades and the level of college/university completed; see full mod description on Cyjon’s website for details. Sims only have a 10% chance of being promoted past the Career level limit set by this mod, so it is still possible but unlikely that a high school dropout will advance to the top.
Note: This mod must load second if using alongside JM Pescado & Doctor Boris’ harderjobs mod, and will remove harderjobs’ limits on the number of Sims in higher job levels.

Fewer Chance Cards for Work (Cyjon) - Prevents Sims from getting career-related Chance Cards if they have at least a 75% chance of promotion (based on good job performance and eligibility for promotion).

Job Mods (Simler90) - Two of Simler90’s three Job Mods are fixes which I’ve included here, while the Job Performance Mod is more about adding difficulty, and is therefore listed below under More Optional Mods - Careers.

    • Job Bring Home Friend Mod - Stops Sims from bringing home friends from work who are from a Family Bin household, and from repeatedly bringing home the same Hobby friend.
      Note:
If using a debugging tool to check for conflicts, this mod will show a conflict with Simler90’s School Mods - School Bring Home Friend Mod listed below under Children and Teens Optional Fixes, but the files which conflict are actually identical and therefore will not cause any issues in your game.

    • Job Pension Mod - Prevents Sims from receiving pension payments while on vacation.

Journalists Can Write Restaurant Guides (Midge the Tree) - Gives the restaurant guide writing Aspiration Benefit from the FreeTime expansion pack to Sims in the Journalism Career as well, and NPC business reporters who you make playable.
Note: There’s an alternate “expect traits” version for those using Hexagonal Bipyramid’s Traits Project mod(s). Use only one version.

Medical Outfit Mod (Simler90) - Corrects the career outfits for Nurses and Interns in the Medical career so they’ll wear the (otherwise unused) green scrubs in the game files, instead of the Orderly clothes.

No Reputation Rewards (Cyjon) - Eliminate any or all of the Reputation Rewards or Penalties introduced in the Apartment Life expansion pack. The .zip file includes mods for each possible reward and penalty so you can choose which you want by installing the files for the ones you want to remove from your game: “-CheapCatalog” and “-ExpensiveCatalog“ (which affect prices in Buy Mode); “-CheapRent“ and “-ExpensiveRent“ (which affect Apartment rent prices); “-Demotion” and “-Promotion”; “-HigherWages”; “-HotDate”; “-NewFriend“; “-NewJob”; “-OfficePariah”; and either “-RandomCoolObjector-Reputation” (since these last two are the default rewards, you may want to keep one or the other to avoid potential errors in your game).
Note: If using the “CJ-NoReputation-Promotion” mod, you cannot also use the “CJ-JobStopinator-Reputation“ add-on for Cyjon’s Job Stopinator.

No Pet Unlock Code Spam (TwoJeffs) - Prevents the long in-game delay when a Pet is promoted upon returning from work by stopping the game from generating an unlock code for the associated Reward object.
Note: If you want those objects unlocked, you can manually do it yourself using the codes (a bit tricky to find online these days, but I found most listed in this post on insiminator.org) or unlock them all by replacing the “kissingpoints.package” file in your …/The Sims 2/LockedBins folder with the version provided with TwoJeffs’ mod.

Work - Bring Home Friend Dialog (Monique) - Creates a dialog box pop up to ask if it’s okay for your Sim to bring home a friend from work. Even if you choose “No,” your Sim will still benefit from the in-game default 25/15 relationship boost with the Sim they wanted to bring home.
Note: This mod only applies to friends being brought home from work; for friends being brought home from school, see TwoJeffs’ School Bus and Bring Friend Home Dialog mod, listed below under ‘Children & Teens Optional Fixes’.

  • Bringing Home Friends from School (USE ONLY ONE):

    • School Bus and Bring Friend Dialog (TwoJeffs) - Reduces dialog box spam and changes how Sims select a friend to bring home from school:

      • “The school bus will be here in an hour” messages will appear once rather than for each student (unless you have students in both public and private schools, then you’ll get one per school);

      • Snow day messages will be limited to one per school rather than per student, but this mod also introduces a random chance of whether each school will close, but the dialog boxes will not specify which one is closed, so you have to wait to see which Sims get the “Go to School” command pushed on them;

      • Adds a dialog box asking if it is okay if a Sim brings home a friend from school and gives the 20/20 relationship boost even if you say “No”, but not if you cancel/exit the dialog box without answering
        (Note: This mod only adds a dialog box for friends being brought home from school; for friends being brought home from work, see Monique’s Work - Bring Home Friend Dialog, listed above under Career-Related Optional Fixes);

      • Changes how Sims select a bring to bring home to greatly reduce lag and add randomness, with a preference for player-created Sims and Sims who haven’t been met yet; and

      • Makes Sims walk toward the mailbox after getting off a school bus before checking their report card or taking out their homework. The ‘bring friend’ dialog won’t appear until then either.
(Note: This function can also be achieved separately by instead using Simler90’s School Come Home Mod, listed below with the rest of Simler90’s School Mods.)

      • Also eliminates the cheering animation for students who receive an A+ grade.

    • School Mods - School Bring Home Friend Mod (Simler90) - Fixes problems with how Sims select a friend to bring home from school:

      • Children will only bring home Child-aged friends and Teens will only bring home Teen-aged friends;

      • Sims will no longer bring home vacation locals, nor Sims from Family Bin households;

      • Public school students will not bring home playable private school students, Downtownies, Socialites, nor Techs; and

      • Private school students will only bring home other playable private school students, Downtownies, Socialites, or Techs and the friend will have the appropriate uniform (and be properly enrolled in private school if the Townie wasn’t before).

      • Sims may bring home friends from another school (who don’t meet the previously listed rules) if they are a Hobby Friend and you succeed at an appropriate Hobby Chance Card (introduced in the FreeTime expansion pack, but only for work friends).

      • Also fixes an issue where sometimes Teens with a job could never bring friends home because the game would try to pick another Teen with the same job; this mod removes job consideration when selecting a friend to bring home.

Notes: If using a debugging tool to check for conflicts, this mod will show a conflict with Simler90’s Job Mods - Job Bring Home Friend Mod listed above under Career-Related Optional Fixes, but the files which conflict are actually identical and therefore will not cause any issues in your game.
The rest of Simler90’s School Mods are listed below.

Child Computer Chat (Cyjon) - Instead of restricting which chat room is displayed on the computer based on your Sim’s age, lists two submenus: Child (all the Child-aged Sims online) and Adult (all the Teen-, Adult- and Elder-aged Sims online).

Faster Zits (Cyjon) - Teens will develop acne in half the time, as a way to scale pimple times to fit shorter lifespans such as Cyjon’s 8-Day Teens.

No College Nagging (Cyjon) - Removes the constant barrage of University-related messages/dialog boxes for Teens.

No Townie Runaways (Cyjon) - Ensures Teens can only run away from home if they belong to the current household. This is primarily to prevent Townies or other visiting Sims from running away if they’ve been made selectable, since any selectable Teen Sim can run away if they have bad/no relationships with everyone in the household, even if that Teen doesn’t live there.

School Mods (Simler90) - A collection of mods that can be used together or separately.

    • FIXES / TWEAKS:

      • School Bring Home Friend Mod - Fixes problems with how Sims select a friend to bring home from school.
**See above under Bringing Home Friends from School for the full description; this mod will conflict with TwoJeffs’ School Bus and Bring Friend Dialog mod, listed above.

      • School Grade Mod - Changes the grade effects of homework to be slightly more randomized. Rather than completed homework always improving a Child or Teen’s grades by +3, and a second day of incomplete homework always decreasing grades by -3, this mod instead chooses a random value between +1 to +3 and -1 to -3, respectively.
Notes: This mod will conflict with other homework-related mods, including those listed below under More Optional Mods, School and Homework.

      • School Work Lecture Mod - Slightly changes decision-making around whether/when parent Sims will lecture their children with bad grades. This mod makes parents lecture Children and Teens who have grades below D- or who miss a school day, with a 50% chance they’ll lecture for grades lower than C- and higher than F+. Parents will also lecture Teens who miss work.

      • School Come Home Mod - Makes Children and Teens who arrive home on a school bus move away from the bus before taking out their report card and performing animations, so they don’t block the route of other Sims trying to get off the bus. Also fixes a Maxis bug that prevented certain animations from playing.
Note: This function is included in TwoJeffs’ School Bus and Bring Friend Dialog mod listed above, so you should not use both.

      • School Snow Day Go To School Fix - Stops students from being able to go to school on foot, by car or by helicopter when it is a snow day.

    • GAMEPLAY CHANGES:

      • Private School Mod - Adds tuition fees of $100/day for each student enrolled in private school, but also makes students’ Needs decay more slowly at private school (compared to public school) as an added incentive to enroll. Tuition fees will be charged at 6am on school days (including snow days, but not weekends), for each student in the order of lowest to highest neighbour ID. If the Household has less than 100 Simoleons, the student(s) will automatically be switched to public school.

      • Private School Leave Early Mod - Makes private school students leave school earlier than usual, as an added incentive to enroll and keep Sims in private school. Children will finish at 2pm and Teens will finish at 12pm (instead of 3pm and 1pm, respectively, for public school).

School Sick Days (Cyjon) - Allows Child- and Teen-aged Sims who are sick to stay home from school without penalty. When the school bus arrives, the “Go to School” command will still be pushed on healthy students in the household, but not sick students. Unfortunately no dialog box will pop up to let you know this; the modder was trying to avoid conflicts with dialog box-focused mods. Requires the Seasons expansion pack.

Sibling Torment (Cyjon) - Modifies the Noogie and Torment interactions so they have a negative effect on relationships, but raise the instigator’s Social Need.

Teen/Child Energy Mod (Midge the Tree) - Switches how much the Energy Need decays for Children and Teens, so Teens get tired more easily and Children have more energy. Doesn’t modify effects on motives from school. If adding this mod to an existing game, it may not take effect immediately for all your Sims; it should start working once they’re at home after either waking up or getting home from school for the first time after installation.

  • Better Roach Stomp (Cyjon) - Reconnects code already in the game so that stomping roaches has a 50-100% chance of killing the insects, based on the Sim’s Body points.

Bigger Outings (DreadPirate) - Allows you to bring up to 20 Sims in an outing group instead of only 8 Sims.

Chat FIFO (Cyjon) - Sims on the chat list on computers will tend towards a FIFO (First In, First Out) protocol, meaning Sims who have been in the chat room for a long time will be more likely to leave than new log-ins.

Dumb In Use Test (Cyjon) - Changes the ‘in use’ test so Sims will always know if an object is in use or not before trying to use it autonomously. This prevents Sims from repeatedly trying to use an object in use just because it’s not in the same room (which may add to realism in some situations but make others less realistic). Does not affect player-directed actions.

Electrocution Fix (Cyjon) - Fixes motive check errors in determining death by electrocution, and makes it possible for Servos and PlantSims to receive an electric shock. Instead of only checking Comfort and Energy, this mod allows six Needs to be checked (Comfort, Energy, Hunger, Hygiene, Bladder, and Fun); if any 2 of those Needs drop below -90, the Sim can die by electrocution. For Servos and PlantSims, this mod makes electrocution drain Social (but not for other Sims) as well as Sunshine for PlantSims. Electrocution will be able to kill PlantSims and make Servos run amok/break if any one of their Needs drop below -90.

Fewer Leaves (Cyjon) - Stops trees from dropping leaves during the last 3 days of fall. With unaltered season duration, this means trees will only drop leaves for the first two days of fall. This mod will not adjust if you play with customized season lengths, so if you have autumn set to only be 3 days long, no leaves will fall at all.

Hot Tub Entry Logic (Cyjon) - Stops Sims from getting into a hot tub if it is raining and the hot tub is outside (even if player-directed to do so); also stops Sims from autonomously entering a hot tub if their Fun and Comfort Needs are maxed (PlantSims will also consider their Hygiene Need). This mod works independently but complements Cyjon’s Hot Tub Exit Logic, listed below.

Hot Tub Exit Logic (Cyjon) - Helps make Sims smarter about when to leave a hot tub. If they got into the hot tub autonomously, they will get out if their Needs levels are failing, or if their the Comfort and Fun Needs are maxed (PlantSims will also consider their Hygiene/Water Needs). Whether autonomously or player-directed, this mod makes Sims exit a hot tub or hot spring if it is raining and the hot tub is outside. This mod works independently but complements Cyjon’s Hot Tub Entry Logic, listed above.

Indoor Plant Fix (JM Pescado & Doctor Boris) - Prevents indoor plants from being over-watered by the rain and less likely to get weeds if they’re grown in a sheltered or sealed environment.

Less Hydrobot Breakage (Cyjon) - Dramatically reduces the amount that Hydrobots (from the Open for Business expansion pack) will/can break down. Decreases the cumulative 0.25% chance of breakdown per spray (meaning they’ll generally break after approximately 23 sprays) to 0.025% per spray (meaning approximately 74 sprays to break), and increases the minimum number of days between breakdowns from 1 to 5.

No Coffee Energy Failure (Cyjon) - Prevents Sims from stopping drinking coffee, espresso or hot chocolate due to sleepiness / low Energy Need.

No Influence Instant Meals (Cyjon) - Forces Sims to make a ‘proper’ meal rather than an instant meal when you Influence a Sim to Make a Meal. Sims with a Cooking Skill below level 3 on a lot without a stove will be unable to meet the requirements set by this mod, so nothing will happen; if you’re running in debug mode, it will give you an error if that scenario occurs.

No Soaping Fountains (Cyjon) - Stops any Sim from pranking a fountain with soap, even if player-directed.

No Stinky Dancing (Cyjon) - Greatly reduces the Hygiene Need drain caused by the smustle, goofy dance, slap dance and hula; also slightly reduces drain of the Energy Drain.

No Community Stock Market (Cyjon) - Stops Sims who have the Investing Aspiration benefit from getting stock market results while they’re on Community Lots.

No Weekly Report (TwoJeffs) - Stops the weekly dialog box about Sims’ Aspiration score; the game doesn’t base the message on the week’s events, only their Aspiration score right before the box pops up, so it’s not very useful.

No Wolves (Cyjon) - Prevents wolves, including the Leader of the Pack, from appearing on properties at all.
Note: If you want to allow visits from the Leader of the Pack but not other wolves, use Cyjon’s Fewer Wolves mod instead. You cannot use both.

Random Chance Cards (Cyjon) - Completely changes how the outcomes of Chance Cards are determined. Under the default in-game system, each card has one answer with a high chance of a positive result while the other is more likely to give a negative result, and there is a 1% chance that both answers will give a negative result; this means you can learn or look up the right answers. If you want to make your Sims’ lives more random and less predictable, you can use this mod to make all Chance Card choices have a 50% chance of being ‘right’, or 80% chance if the Sim has the Hunch Aspiration Benefit (from the FreeTime expansion pack). It also removes the 1% chance of both being wrong.

Safe Hats (Cyjon) - Removes the option for a Sim to use the Thinking Cap or Noodlesoother Aspiration Reward objects if their Aspiration Meter is below a Gold level, so they’re less likely to pass out from using them.
You’ll need to use the compatible version of the Safe Hats mod (CJ-SafeHats-ABU.zip) if using it alongside Cyjon’s Aspiration by Use mod. Use only one version.

Shorter Jokes (Cyjon) - Reduces the length of the “Tell Joke” interaction so Sims go through two conversation cycles instead of three.

Soothing Apology (Cyjon) - Makes apologies three times more effective at reducing furiousness. Requires Cyjon’s Apology Fury Fix, listed above under Critical Fix Mods, Other Fixes - Most Important.

Turn On/Turn Off Selection (Cyjon) - Changes how the Turn Ons and Turn Offs of newly created Sims aged Teen or older (including Townies, Downtownies, and NPCs) and newly aged Teens (playable or not). It will not affect Sims made in Create A Sim (CAS), nor Sims who already exist in your game. In place of the default system, this mod first selects four Turn Ons/Offs, one form each category: hair colour; facial feature (facial hair, makeup, costume makeup, hat, glasses, jewelry); body type (20% chance of “fit”, 20% chance of “fat”, 10% chance each for Zombie, Vampire, Servo, Werewolf, PlantSim, Witch); and skill (the 7 skill-based Turn Ons/Offs, plus Unemployed and Hard Worker). Next, the mod randomly dismisses one, randomly chooses one to be the Turn Off, and the other two become Turn Ons. When selecting the Turn Off, the mod is more likely to choose fat, grey hair, unemployed, and zombie, and less likely to choose fit, hard worker and charismatic.
Note: This mod is likely incompatible with other mods which affect Turn Ons and Turn Offs, especially if they change how they are selected (it may work with certain mods that replace Turn Ons/Offs, depending how they’re coded).

More Optional Mods

These mods are intended to add features or make optional gameplay changes, rather than fix anything ‘wrong’. Whether you want to use them depends on how you want to play your game!

  • Job Level Labels a.k.a. Level Numbers Added to Job Titles (Phaenoh) - Adds “Lvl” and the level number to job search dialog boxes and the titles and descriptions in the career menu/control panel. Works for all jobs included in The Sims 2 base game, University, Pets, Seasons and FreeTime.
Note: Includes and replaces Menaceman44’s General Practioner? Job Title Fix, listed above under ‘Helpful Fix Mods’, ‘Fixes - Bugs - Helpful’.

No Friends Needed for Careers (TwoJeffs) - Removes the friends requirement for all careers, without altering Career files, meaning it will also apply to any custom Careers you use. The control panel will still show that friends are needed to advance, but the promotion will still occur as long as all other requirements such as Skills and job performance are met.
Note: Conflicts with JM Pescado & Doctor Boris’ Harder Jobs, listed below under ’Less Advancement, More Challenge!’

    Carpool

    • No Carpools for Moms of Babies and Toddlers (xptl297) - Stops the carpool from coming for mothers of Baby- and Toddler-aged Sims, regardless of the mother’s age and whether she gave birth or adopted. Carpools will come for all other Sims living on the lot as usual.

    • Previously listed ‘Fix Mods’:

      • Carpool Fixes (JM Pescado & Doctor Boris) - Ensures friends brought home from work are dressed according to their own rank, reduces the unloading clog for vehicles with insufficient doors, and allows you to load more than one Sim into a helicopter at a time without causing unrelated queue drops.

      • Carpool Warning Fix (Cyjon) - Allows carpool warnings for Sims who are sick or in first stage of pregnancy, so you know when call in sick if you need to.

    Custom Careers

    • Playable and Improved Nannies (Lazy Duchess) - Overhauls the Nanny Service by rewriting its autonomy and by turning it into a 3-level Teen/Elder career you can find through normal job finding.
**Also listed above under ‘Helpful Fix Mods’, ‘Fixes - Gameplay - Helpful’.

    • Self-Employed & Happily Unemployed (Judy a.k.a. jphill11) - Two new careers that can be used to stop your Sims from rolling Wants to get a job when you don’t want them to, such as if they run a business or are a homemaker. Allows Teens, Adults and Elders to take a job as “Self-Employed” or “Happily Unemployed” where every day is a day off (unfortunately this means you’ll get the “[Sim] has the day off today” pop-up everyday), so they won’t be considered ‘Unemployed’, but won’t have any hours or receive any pay, and the carpool will never come. Both jobs have a custom icon, only one level, no promotions, no demotions, and no chance cards.
Notes: You can download one or both of these custom careers.
      - These careers will not overwrite nor replace any other careers in your game.
      - When your Sim first joins these careers, a pop-up will say the carpool will arrive at 2pm, but it won’t.
**Also listed below under ‘Self-Employed & Freelance’.

    Job Options Mod Set (Lamare)

    • Choose Part-time or Full-time Career Type (USE ONLY ONE):

      • choose-career-type - Adults, Young Adults and Elders can choose between part-time and full-time jobs, but Teens are still restricted to part-time jobs. A dialog will pop-up when your Sim is about to look for a job with a newspaper or on a computer. With debug cheats enabled, shift-clicking on the newspaper will allow Young Adults, Adults and Elders to see both part- and full-time menu options.

      • choose-career-type+teens - Same as the previous version, except this one doesn’t exclude Teens from full-time jobs or the expanded shift-click debug menu.

      • choose-career-type-CheatOnly - Doesn’t alter normal job-seeking at all, but Teens, Young Adults, Adults, and Elders can select part-time and full-time options if you enable debug cheats and shift-click on a newspaper.

Notes: All versions should be compatible with JM Pescado & Doctor Boris’ Harder Jobs mod, listed below under ‘Less Advancement, More Challenge!’, and Cyjon’s Job Stopinator, listed under ‘CC - Objects - Special Functions’.
      - Also should be compatible with Midge the Tree’s More Computer Options, but Midge’s mod must load after this one.

    • Ask Before Promotion (USE ONLY ONE):

      • ask-before-promotion-NoDeal - Allows you to accept or decline a Sim or Pet’s promotion via a dialog box pop-up, whether through meeting the requirements and having good job performance, or because of a Networking bonus or relationship. Does not affect promotions from Chance cards, nor penalties, demotions or being fired. Applies to full-time, part-time, and Pet Career tracks.

      • ask-before-promotion - Same as the previous version, with the addition of a ‘better promotion deal’ feature where a Sim or Pet has a 40% chance of getting a second offer if you decline the first one, if they meet the promotion requirements and have good job performance. The better promotion deal will offer an even higher position (so your Sim or Pet can skip a level), but never to a level 10 (the top) position.

Notes: Compatible with Lamare’s Lower Promotion Chances, listed below under ‘Less Advancement, More Challenge!’
      - All versions should be compatible with JM Pescado & Doctor Boris’ Harder Jobs mod, listed below under ‘Less Advancement, More Challenge!’, and Cyjon’s Job Stopinator, listed under ‘CC - Objects - Special Functions’.

    • Jobs in University (USE ONLY ONE):

      • jobs-in-uni-for-all - Allows Sims and Pets to work while in a University Neighbourhood, including Teens, Young Adults, Adults, Elders, and cats and dogs. Sims can search for jobs in newspapers and on computers, including on Community Lots. Jobs will be processed as normal (e.g. the game can check if your Sim is late for work), you’ll get job-related notifications, and working Sims and Pets will have carpools come.

      • jobs-in-uni-only-sims - Same as previous version, except only applies to Sims’ jobs and excludes Pet Careers.

      • jobs-in-uni-only-pets - Same as the ‘-for-all’ version, except only applies to Pets’ jobs and excludes Sims of all ages.

      • Note: You will need Lamare’s YA’s Job Panel Revealer if you want University students to also have a menu/control panel for their Career.

    • YAs Want and Fear Work (USE ONLY ONE):

      • YA-work-wants-fears - Allows Young Adult-aged Sims to have Wants and Fears about work, such as to find a job, go to work, get a promotion, etc.

      • YA-work-wants-fears-Better - Young Adult-aged Sims may get work-related Wants and Fears if their interest in work is higher than in school and entertainment, or if they have less than $100 in funds (which makes a bit more sense than every University student wanting a job). Also makes it so that any working Sim (not just Young Adults) may Want to find another career if their job performance is poor.

Note: Can be used with JM Pescado’s WF Sanity, listed above under ‘Helpful Fix Mods’, ‘Fixes - Wants and LTW’ but YA-work-wants-fears-better must load after WF Sanity.

    • Part- and Full-Time Careers Mutually Satisfy Wants - career-types-mutually-satisfy-wants allows getting a part-time job to satisfy a Want to get a full-time job in the corresponding Career and vice-versa; mostly helpful if using Lamare’s choose-career-type, listed above. Will not work for custom careers.

    Less Advancement, More Challenge!
You should ONLY USE ONE of these mods. Unless otherwise noted, they will not work together.

    • Edukashun Iz Gud (Cyjon) - **also listed above under Optional Fix Mods, Career-Related Optional Fixes**
Allows Sims to join any Career regardless of their education/University degree, but limits whether Sims can get promoted / the maximum level they can achieve based on their education. The mod considers high school grades and the level of college/university completed; see full mod description on Cyjon’s website for details. Sims only have a 10% chance of being promoted past the Career level limit set by this mod, so it is still possible but unlikely that a high school dropout will advance to the top.
Note: This mod can be used alongside JM Pescado & Doctor Boris’ Harder Jobs mod, listed below, but EdukashunIzGud must load second and will remove harderjobs’ limits on the number of Sims in higher job levels.

    • Harder Jobs (JM Pescado & Doctor Boris) - Makes standard jobs harder, such as by reducing how far ahead University graduates start (no longer level 8 or 9) and limiting the number of openings available at higher Career levels. It is likely that this mod makes other related adjustments not detailed in the readme file.
Notes: If using this mod, you should remove Pescado & Boris’ jobfixes mod, listed above under Highly Recommended Fix Mods, Fixes - Bugs - Essential, since harderjobs was updated to include all the changes in jobfixes.
      - Harder Jobs can be used alongside Cyjon’s EdukashunIzGud mod, listed above, but harderjobs must load first and its limits on the number of Sims in higher job levels will not apply.
      - Harder Jobs can be used alongside Lamare’s Lower Promotion Chances, listed below.
      - Harder Jobs will conflict with TwoJeffs’ No Friends Needed for Careers, listed at the top of this ‘Careers’ section.

    • Increased Challenge Mods 1 - cd_jobs (SimModder) - Makes promotions harder to get by adding a further penalty for low Energy Need and making job performance harder to get as Career level increases. Also reduces promotion bonuses from 2x salary to 1.5x salary.

    • Job Mods - Job Performance Mod (Simler90) - Changes and adds features related to Careers and job performance:

      • Changes the formula calculating job performance, making it harder to get as Career Level increases, considers reputation, and considers the relevance of their University degree and whether they graduated with Honours (see full description on Mod The Sims for details);

      • Reduces the chance of promotion from 100% (when requirements are met) to a 15% base amount with bonuses based on if the Sim graduated University (+5%), if their degree is relevant to their Career (+5%, 10% or 15% depending on low/mid/high Honours), if they live Downtown (+3%), if they live on a high-class lot (+3%) or a low-class lot (-3%), if they have a reputation score above 60 (+5%) or below -60 (-5%), or if they have a job performance score of 100 (+15% if they do not have the Industrious Vacation Benefit, or +25% if they do);

      • Increases the negative effect of missing work from -25 to -50 job performance; and

      • Makes level 4 the highest available for jobs found on the computer, meaning University graduates can no longer start jobs at level 8 or 9.

Note: The other two of Simler90’s Job Mods were listed above under Optional Fix Mods, Career-Related Optional Fixes.

    • Lower Promotion Chances (Lamare) - Reduces a Sim’s chance of promotion (when they meet the next level requirements) from 100% to one of the following options: 75%, 50%, 25%, or 10%. Use only one version.
Note: This mod can be used with JM Pescado & Boris’ Harder Jobs and Lamare’s Job Options Set, both listed above, Cyjon’s Job Stopinator, listed under ‘CC - Objects - Special Functions’, and KittyCarey’s Doctors Need Degrees.

    Self-Employed & Freelance

    • Also listed above under ‘Custom Careers’:

    • Cross-listed under ‘Finances’:

      • Cheaper Restaurant Guides (Cyjon) - Significantly reduces payout for restaurant guides. This mod makes guides pay roughly the same per hour as writing novels: a base of $40-240 + (40 x Cuisine Enthusiasm) + (20 x Cooking Skill). If the total is over 400, it is considered a good guide, while over 700 is a great guide.
Note: Conflicts with K-C’s Less Money for Auxiliary Income at Home - Less money for restaurant guide writing, below.

      • Less Money for Auxiliary Income at Home (K-C) - A collection of mods to make financial advice, novels, paintings and restaurant guides pay less.

        • Less Money for Financial Advice - Reduces earnings per hour from $75 / $125 / $200 to $25 / $50 / $75.
Note: May conflict with Cyjon’s Partial Financial Advice, below, I haven’t checked.

        • Less Money for Novel Writing - Reduces earnings by about 70%. The Wish to ‘Write a Great Novel’ can still be satisfied with the lowered income.

        • Less Money for Restaurant Guide Writing - Reduced earnings by about 82%, because it takes much less time than writing a novel. The Wish to ‘Write a Great Restaurant Guide’ can still be satisfied with the lowered income.
Note: Conflicts with Cyjon’s Cheaper Restaurant Guides, above.

        • Less Money for Selling Paintings - Reduces the two highest payouts for paintings from $250 and $500 to $125 and $200, respectively. The Wish to ‘Sell a Great Painting’ can still be satisfied with the lowered income.

      • Partial Financial Advice (Cyjon) - Allows Sims offering financial advice on the computer to get paid for a partial hour if the command is cancelled.
Note: Integrated into and replaced by TwoJeffs’ Autonomous Computer Fixes, listed above under ‘Helpful Fix Mods’, ‘Autonomous Actions and Behaviours’, ‘Optional Mods for Restricting Autonomous Actions’. If using the TwoJeffs’ mod, you do not need to use this mod by Cyjon.
        - May conflict with K-C’s Less Money for Auxiliary Income at Home - Less money for financial advice, above, I haven’t checked yet.

      • Professional Blogger (Cyjon) - Allows Sims to make money from blogging on the computer if they have reached maximum Enthusiasm in the Hobby they’re blogging about. Blogging at lower Enthusiasm levels won’t earn anything. (If a Sim reaches maximum Enthusiasm while blogging, you’ll have to cancel and re-issue the command for them to start earning money.) Sims with the Fortune Aspiration (primary or secondary) will earn the same rate as they do for offering financial advice $75, $125 or $200 per hour depending on their Logic skill); Sims with other Aspirations will earn half this amount, with the rationale that they’d obsess less over the SEO details of a successfully monetized blog.
Note: Any Sim saved while blogging or browsing the web when this mod is installed will jump out of the action when you load that Household for the first time, and you’ll get an error if you’re in debug mode. You can simply go back to playing and reissue the command if you want; it shouldn’t break anything.

    • Cross-listed under ‘CC - Objects - Special Functions’:

      • Manuscript - Become an author … without a computer (MogHughson) - Allows Sims to write novels without a computer, by using a manuscript notepad. Usable by Sims of Child-age and older. Just as with the computer version, Sims will take approximately 15 in-game hours to complete a novel, but can stop writing and continue later as many time as required, and will earn Creativity Skill as they work. More details can be found in the full description on Mod The Sims.

  • Self-Preservation (Cyjon) - Helps make Sims smarter about tending to their Needs, such as by satisfying Hunger over Bladder or Energy since they can die by starvation but not from bladder failure or passing out.

    Alien Abduction

    • Abductions - Higher Odds (TwoJeffs) - Increases the chance that a stargazing Sim will be abducted by Aliens. Odds will start at nearly zero and continuously increase the longer a Sim stargazes, but will be reset each time a Sim stops and restarts stargazing. Knowledge Sims will have a higher chance of being abducted than Sims with other Aspirations.
**Note this mod was also listed above under Optional Fix Mods, Fixes - Occults and Servos - Optional.

    Death by Satellite

    • Deadly Satellites (Cyjon) - Increases the chance of satellite death by making the game check for satellite death every batch of 5-24 animation cycles or roughly once every 30 in-game minutes, instead of once per command to watch clouds or stargaze. This mod uses the game’s regular 1% chance of satellite death, but checks more often, so it’ll take an average of 50 in-game hours of cloud-gazing for your Sim to be killed by a satellite using this mod.
Note: HDCU Plus does not report any conflicts with TwoJeffs’ Death by Satellite Higher Odds, below, so you may be able use them both if the TwoJeffs mod loads second, but I haven’t personally tested that yet.

    • Death by Satellite Higher Odds (TwoJeffs) - Increases the odds of death by satellite from 1% to 3%. (The game will still only check for death by satellite once per command to watch clouds or stargaze.)
Note: HDCU Plus does not report any conflicts with Cyjon’s Deadly Satellites, above, so you may be able to use them both if this TwoJeffs one loads second, but I haven’t personally tested that yet.

    Diseases
Note: I haven’t really played with diseases in TS2 yet, so I recommend reading the full mod descriptions and searching Google for a better understanding of how these work.

    • Faster Disease Processing (Cyjon) - Shortens disease recovery processing time so it is less affected by the number of sick Sims on a lot.

    • Frequent Disease Processing (Cyjon) - Makes diseases both more and less fatal by applying changes to disease at each cycle rather than once every six cycles. Sims will be more likely to recover faster if they’re doing well, but will die immediately if they pass the lethal level.

    Electrocution

    • Electrocution Fix (Cyjon) - Fixes motive check errors in determining death by electrocution, and makes it possible for Servos and PlantSims to receive an electric shock.
**Note this mod was also listed above under Optional Fix Mods, Fixes - Gameplay - Optional, Other Optional Gameplay Fixes.

    Fire

    • Fewer Fires (Cyjon) - Creates a flat 1% chance of a fire when cooking, regardless of the difficulty of the food. Has the side effect that burning food (without starting a fire) is slightly more common.

    • Fireproof Toddlers (Cyjon) - Protects Toddlers from dying in fires. They already can’t burn like older Sims, but they can still die in an unmodded game (which is likely a bug).

    • More Dangerous Fire (SimModder) - Two versions depending on how dangerous you want your fire: a balanced version where fire spreads faster and destroys quicker, but can still be brought under control; and one that spreads and destroys twice as fast as the balanced version. Use only one version. Does not affect the odds of a fire starting.

Also listed in ‘Fix Mods’ sections:

    • Don’t Walk Away While Cooking (Squinge) - Stops Sims from walking away from any stove, oven or grill while they are cooking.

    • Fewer Lightning Fires (Cyjon) - When struck by lightning, tree fire chance reduced from 30% to 5% and other object fires reduced from 15% to 5%.

    • Fire Mod (Simler90) - Makes it so that Sims who ‘Study Fire Safety’ will panic less and will either call the fire department, try to extinguish the fire, or run out of the house (rather than acting no differently from a Sim who did not study it). Also fixes a bug where Ghosts reacting to a fire could make the game delete the Ghost and deliver a “Sim has died on another lot” notification.

    Grim Reaper Fixes
*Note these mods were also listed above under Optional Fix Mods, Fixes - Bugs - Niche.

    • Seated Aging Fix (Cyjon) - Allows the Grim Reaper to interrupt your Sim so they can die of old age even if they’re sitting or lying down. In an unmodded game, the Grim Reaper won’t come to kill a Sim until they stand up, meaning Elder Sims can theoretically live forever if they stay in a chair.

    • Grim Multi-Reaping Fix (Cyjon) - Fixes an obscure and non-critical bug with the Grim Reaper where if two or more Sims die simultaneously and after Grim reaps the first, any Sim on the lot has low Aspiration, Grim will throw an error and disappear before being re-summoned to finish his work. In other words, it requires a specific circumstance and even if it does occur, you’ll likely only notice if you’re playing in debug mode and have to click the reset button.

Others also listed in ‘Fix Mods’ sections:

    • Lightning Storm Fix (Cyjon) - Fixes a bug that prevents intense lightning storms. In other words, this mod allows intense lightning storms to occur.

    • No Spoiled Food (Cyjon) - Prevents sims from even considering eating spoiled food unless they are very hungry or very Sloppy (low Neat personality points). The “-Zombie” version will also allow Zombies to eat spoiled food. Use only one version.
Notes: If you plan to use the “-Zombie” version, you’ll likely also want to use Cyjon’s Zombie Iron Stomach mod to make Zombies immune to food poisoning.
No Spoiled Food is compatible with Cyjon’s No Eat Crap, but will conflict with CBOY’s Eat More Talk Less.

    • Warmth Fixes (JM Pescado) - Properly applies temperature caps, reduces the chance of spontaneous combustion and raises its temperature threshold to +90, and stops outdoor temperatures from affecting Sims that are indoors.

  • Homework
Some of these can be used together; conflicts are noted.

    • Auto Do Homework at 7pm (Monique) - Pushes a command for Children and Teens to do their homework every night at 7:00pm, if they have unfinished homework.

    • Harder Homework (Cyjon) - Makes Child and Teen homework take longer based on a Sim’s Aspiration and Playful personality points.

      • In an unmodded game, a Sim who has been taught to study takes about an hour to complete their homework; with this mod, Children will complete homework at 2/3 normal speed, and Teens’ speed is based on their Aspiration: Knowledge will do homework at ‘normal’ speed, Romance and Pleasure Aspirations will do homework at 1/3 normal speed, and other Aspirations at 2/3 speed.

      • Boredom:

        • Regardless of Aspiration, Sims will get bored once they have done a percentage of their homework equal to their Seriousness (e.g. reverse of Playfulness): a Sim with 10 Playful personality points (Serious 0) will get bored after 0%, or immediately; a Sim with 5 Playful personality points will get bored after completing 50%; and a Sim with 0 Playful personality points (Serious 10) will never get bored.

        • Logic skill offsets the impact of Playful personality points: every 2 points of Logic changes the Playfulness consideration by -1, so a student with 10 Logic skill points will be considered 5 personality points less Playful by this mod’s calculation.

        • Once a Sim gets bored, their homework speed is cut in half. This means Knowledge Sims will complete homework at 1/2 speed, Romance and Pleasure Sims at 1/6 speed, and 1/3 speed for Children and for Teens with other Aspirations.

        • Be aware that this means it will take SIX HOURS for a Teen with the Romance or Pleasure Aspiration and 10 Playful personality points to complete their homework, and learning to study nor getting help from a parent will help speed this up!

      • With the Seasons expansion pack, Sims can learn to study faster in the fall/autumn compared to other seasons, as the game originally intended (but was bugged). Drinking apple juice (made from 4 apples using the juicer) will still give a homework speed boost like it does in an unmodded game.

      • Notes: This mod will conflict with TwoJeffs’ Homework Sometimes, listed below.
Harder Homework is designed to work independently, but will work best if used with Cyjon’s Partial Homework Credit, listed below.

    • Homework Help and Placement (cannot use both options together):
**Also listed above under ‘Helpful Fix Mods’, ‘Fixes - Gameplay - Helpful’.

    • Homework Sometimes a.k.a. Homework Hack (TwoJeffs) - Makes Sims who have learned to study not always get homework, with lower chances of homework the better their grades are. Also reduces the negative impact of homework on the Fun Need for serious Sims (e.g. very few Playful personality points).
Note: This mod will conflict with Simler90’s School Mods - School Grade Mod, will conflict with Cyjon’s Harder Homework, and may conflict with Cyjon’s Partial Homework Credit, all listed within this section.

    • Partial Homework Credit (Cyjon) - Gives Child- and Teen-aged Sims credit for partially completed homework. When the student arrives home from school, any old homework is graded based on the percentage it was completed (0% is an F, 50% is a C, and 100% is an A+), adjusts the student’s overall grade based on the homework grade and their mood, then destroys the old homework. This mod will generally only change grades by 1-2 levels per day, such as from a C- to C+, with larger changes depending on the difference between the overall grade and homework grade, up to about 5 levels, such as from an A+ to B-. It is safe to add this mod into games with existing households with multiple old homeworks around; the mod will use the old homework with the highest completion %, and set all the old homeworks to disappear after the first day at school.
Notes: This mod may conflict with TwoJeffs’ Homework Sometimes, listed above.
      - Partial Homework Credit is designed to work independently, but will work best if used with Cyjon’s Harder Homework, listed above.

    • School Mods - School Grade Mod (Simler90) - Changes the grade effects of homework to be slightly more randomized. Rather than completed homework always improving a Child or Teen’s grades by +3, and a second day of incomplete homework always decreasing grades by -3, this mod instead chooses a random value between +1 to +3 and -1 to -3, respectively.
Notes: This mod will conflict with TwoJeffs’ Homework Sometimes, listed above.
**Simler90’s School Mods are also listed above under ‘Fixes - Gameplay - Optional’, ‘Children and Teens Optional Fixes’, and as relevant within this section.

    Private School

    • No Private School Uniform (Cyjon) - Students in private school will wear their everyday clothes and no longer change into a uniform.

    • School Mods - Private School Mod (Simler90) - Makes Sims’ Needs decay more slowly at private school, and adds a cost of $100/day for each student (Child or Teen) enrolled in private school. Tuition will be charged at 6am on weekdays, in order from lowest neighbor ID; if you have less than $100, remaining students will be sent to public school instead.
**Simler90’s School Mods are also listed above under ‘Fixes - Gameplay - Optional’, ‘Children and Teens Optional Fixes’, and as relevant within this section.

    • School Mods - Private School Leave Early Mod (Simler90) - Adds incentive for enrolling your Children/Teens in private school by allowing private school students to leave earlier than public school students. Children will leave at 2pm instead of 3pm, and Teens will leave at 12pm instead of 1pm.
**Simler90’s School Mods are also listed above under ‘Fixes - Gameplay - Optional’, ‘Children and Teens Optional Fixes’, and as relevant within this section.

Others also listed in ‘Fix Mods’ sections:

    • Bringing Home Friends from School (USE ONLY ONE):

      • School Bus and Bring Friend Dialog (TwoJeffs) - Reduces dialog box spam and changes how Sims select a friend to bring home from school:

        • “The school bus will be here in an hour” messages will appear once rather than for each student (unless you have students in both public and private schools, then you’ll get one per school);

        • Snow day messages will be limited to one per school rather than per student, but this mod also introduces a random chance of whether each school will close, but the dialog boxes will not specify which one is closed, so you have to wait to see which Sims get the “Go to School” command pushed on them;

        • Adds a dialog box asking if it is okay if a Sim brings home a friend from school and gives the 20/20 relationship boost even if you say “No”, but not if you cancel/exit the dialog box without answering
          (Note: This mod only adds a dialog box for friends being brought home from school; for friends being brought home from work, see Monique’s Work - Bring Home Friend Dialog, listed above under ‘Career-Related Optional Fixes’);

        • Changes how Sims select a bring to bring home to greatly reduce lag and add randomness, with a preference for player-created Sims and Sims who haven’t been met yet; and

        • Makes Sims walk toward the mailbox after getting off a school bus before checking their report card or taking out their homework. The ‘bring friend’ dialog won’t appear until then either.(Note: This function can also be achieved separately by instead using Simler90’s School Come Home Mod, listed below with the rest of Simler90’s School Mods.)

        • Also eliminates the cheering animation for students who receive an A+ grade.

      • School Mods - School Bring Home Friend Mod (Simler90) - Fixes problems with how Sims select a friend to bring home from school:

        • Children will only bring home Child-aged friends and Teens will only bring home Teen-aged friends;

        • Sims will no longer bring home vacation locals, nor Sims from Family Bin households;

        • Notes: If using a debugging tool to check for conflicts, this mod will show a conflict with Simler90’s Job Mods - Job Bring Home Friend Mod listed above under ‘Career-Related Optional Fixes’, but the files which conflict are actually identical and therefore will not cause any issues in your game.
**The rest of Simler90’s School Mods are listed as relevant within this section.

    • School Mods (Simler90) - The rest of the collection not listed elsewhere within this section.

      • School Snow Day Go To School Fix - Stops students from being able to go to school on foot, by car or by helicopter when it is a snow day.

    • School Sick Days (Cyjon) - Allows Child- and Teen-aged Sims who are sick to stay home from school without penalty. When the school bus arrives, the “Go to School” command will still be pushed on healthy students in the household, but not sick students. Unfortunately no dialog box will pop up to let you know this; the modder was trying to avoid conflicts with dialog box-focused mods. Requires the Seasons expansion pack.

  • Pay and Wages

    • Half Wages (K-C) - Halves the salary given by Careers from the base game and the following expansions: University, Pets, Seasons, and Free Time. You will need to download K-C_GlobalReplacement_Career-Wages_ALL-EP.zip and use all 5 files within it in your Mods folder.
Note: Will conflict with Cyjon’s Lower Wages, listed below; you cannot use them together.

    • Lower Wages (Cyjon) - Reduces the salaries given by careers from the University expansion by 40%, and from Seasons and Free Time by 20%, so they are more in-line with base game salaries. You will need all three packages if you want the jobs from each respective pack to be affected.
Note: Will conflict with K-C’s Half Wages, listed above; you cannot use them together.

    • Salary Bonus Scheme (Pick’N’Mix Mods) - Adds a base bonus and accrued bonus system so Sims will be rewarded for longevity in the same position or Career. There is a very detailed outline on how the bonus scheme is structured in the full description from Pick’N’Mix Mods. You will need 3 package files (_A, _B, and _C), but the fourth (_D) is optional, if you want to stop Chance and Hobby cards from appearing and are not using Cyjon’s Job Stopinator.

    Cross-listed under ‘Careers’:

  • Even more mods will be listed here soon!
